'Expect the unexpected

And whenever possible

Be the unexpected'

It was night. I was sitting on the decaying bleachers in Sketch's circus tent. Sub was talking to Sketch. I was about to fall asleep when a rustle of leaves came from outside. Sub tensed up, but relaxed when he saw Alex walk in. He waved to me and walked over to Sketch. He placed all of his hands on the wires. His eyes closed and the wires turned to bright purple, then broke apart to purple ash. Sketch fell to the floor with a thud.

"Ow! A warning would've been nice." Sketch yelled. Alex sighed and Sub laughed. I stood up and walked closer. Sketch's body was still twisted. He lifted himself up and his waist down all turned to face the right way. He moved around a lot and stretched.

"Denis! Why don't you help him?" Sub said. Sketch looked up at me. I shrugged and helped him stand. He put one of his arms over my shoulders and started walking. Every move he made you heard a jingle from the bells. We got to one of the entrances to the tent and heard yelling.

"Stop right there!" Sketch and I both snapped around. Sub had his hands up and Alex looked worried. I quickly hid with Sketch behind the bleachers. A few knights went up to Sub and pulled him away. The king went up to Alex.

"Alexander! Are you okay? Did that scum hurt you?" The king yelled holding onto his son. Alex pushed away.

"He didn't do anything! I left by choice!" Alex argued and ran after the knights that took Sub. The king went after him.

I went out from under the bleachers with Sketch. His smile didn't disappear.

"How are you still smiling?" I asked. He turned to me.

"I can't stop. My owner forced me to be smiling all the time." He mumbled. I instantly regretted asking.

"Oh. Sorry for asking." I whispered.

"It's fine. Now c'mon let's go." Sketch said, slowly walking away from me. He eventually got the hang of walking again and started running.

We got to the marketplace. It was closed and pitch black. Sketch followed the red dirt path. We followed it until we were at the entrance to the castle.

Sketch fell to the ground to a seated position. He stared at the large wooden doors. I sat next to him. I eventually fell asleep.

˜"*°•.˜"*°• - •°*"˜.•°*"˜

"Attention townspeople! A criminal has been charged and scheduled to be executed in 15 minutes!" A man yelled. I woke up. Sketch was staring in the direction of the man. There was a crowd of people surrounding a stage. Was Sub going to be killed? I just met him and he's already going to die!?

Sketch stood up and pulled me to the crowd. We made our way to the front. The king and Alex were standing on the stage. Alex was being held back by a knight. Another knight brought Sub up to the contraption. His hands were tied together.

The knight put the noose around Sub's neck. It lined up with the red line. There were a few whispers among the crowd.

"He looks so young?"

"What did he do?"

"Poor boy."

The knight went over to a lever that would make the trap door under Sub fall out. The king nodded and the lever was pulled. I covered my eyes.

I heard gasps from the crowd. I peeked through my hands. There Sub stood, alive. The noose above him. He looked over at the king. The king stood in shock. His face became twisted with anger. Alex looked happier than ever.

"KILL HIM!" The king screamed. Sketch quickly jumped onto the stage. Sub ran towards me and jumped down. Sketch went to grab Alex. The knight that was holding Alex back swung at Sketch, but he ducked and pulled Alex off the stage.

They both ran over to us and we all ran into the woods. I heard knights cashing after us. We ended up running to Sketch's circus tent. Sketch smiled more and ran to the front of the tent.

"You guys run. I'll distract them!" He called. We did as he asked and ran to the other side of the tent. Sketch ran into the tent followed by a bunch of knights.

3rd person POV

Sketh climbed up one of the large poles. At the top was the tightrope. Sketch walked out on it. He waited at the center. A knight climbed up on both sides of the rope. One of them took out their sword and slashed the rope.

It snapped and Sketch jumped to a trapeze. He turned to the knights and stuck his tongue out before swinging back and forth to a ladder.

He went down the ladder and was grabbed by a knight. The knight took out his sword and held it to Sketch's throat. Sketch sighed and spun around he kicked the knight making him release him. Sketch grabbed the sword and slashed the knight's arm and pushed him to the floor.

The fourth and final knight ran at him with a throwing knife. Sketch dodged it, grabbed it, and threw it right at the knight's leg. It hit the knight and he fell to the ground.

Sketch laughed and ran out. The others were hiding behind the trees. Sketch dusted himself off and motioned for the others to keep running.

Denis's POV

We kept running until we were out of the forest.

"Hahaha! Take that, Dad!" Alex yelled, throwing two of his fists in the air. Sub went over to Sketch and asked him to untie his hands.

"Sub. How did you live that?" I asked. Sub turned to me.

"Oh. My species is immortal. We can only die to something we caused." Sub explained. This world is interesting.

"You almost missed that trapeze." Sub teased Sketch.

"So what? I'm a little rusty! I bet you couldn't have done any of the things I did!" Sketch argued. Sub shoved Sketch. They both went back and forth until Alex pulled them apart.

"Well. Where do we go now?" I asked.
