'What is now proved was once only imagined'

"So. What's your name?" I asked the boy. He lit up and turned to me.

"I'm Corl, but my friends call me Bredon!" He cheered.

"Oh, nice to meet you, Corl! I'm Denis!" I replied.

"Denis. I said to call me Braden."

"You didn't say that. You said- Ooh," Braden laughed. We kept walking. No one talked much. Braden was following his potion, he would pour some on the ground and an arrow would appear. The others just kept looking around. I don't think they've ever left Kitition.

"What's Earth like?" Sub asked. I jumped a little since we had all been silent for a long time.

"Uhm. It's pretty boring." I said.

"Then why do you want to go back?" Alex questioned.

"Well, my family and parents are there. They're probably worried." Alex nodded. Sub and Sketch looked at me confused.

"Parents?" They both asked.

"Yeah. Mom and Dad? Do you two not have parents?" Sketch shook his head.

"Well, I guess my owner is like my dad, but he's not doing a good job. His wife left a few years ago and took my brother with her. That's when he started to lose it." Sketch sighed and looked at the ground. I turned to Sub. He looked more confused than sad.

"I'm..homeless. I don't remember my parents. I'm sure I had them at one point though!" Sub said. I felt anxious again. Braden turned to us with an alarmed face.

"Someone's coming." He whispered. We looked around. In the distance, I could see dust and dirt being kicked up my horses.

"My dad! We need to hide! Quick!" Alex yelled. There wasn't anywhere to hide. No trees or bushes. It looked like a desert only orange. Alex suddenly grabbed onto all of us. He had just enough arms. He closed his eyes. The knights got closer.

"No one make a sound. If you bump into them, they'll see you." Alex explained. We all nodded and waited. The knights got about 10 feet away from us before they slowed down.

"Where'd they go?"

"They were right here!"

They got off their horses and started walking around. We all split up. Sub and Braden got as far away as they could while still seeing us, Sketch was doing cartwheels in between the knights, and Alex kept walking around. I stood still. I only moved if they got close.

Then, a knight suddenly lunged forward towards me. I jumped out of the way, but the knight hit me anyway. Alex gasped and tried to come over to me. I knew the spell had broken. The knight looked at me. He grabbed my arm and yelled something. I didn't pay attention to him. I was too scared. A hooded figure jumped down from a horse and walked up to me. He lowered his hood. The king.

"Well well well. We got one!" He spun around. "Alex! I know you're here! Why don't you come out and maybe I'll make these peasants' sentences shorter." The king laughed. I saw Alex. He stepped forwards and the king looked over at him.

"Fine," Alex mumbled. My eyes widened. Alex walked over to his dad. The king grabbed his arm and pulled Alex over to the horse.

"Ow! What the hell-" The knight yelled. He let go of my arm. I turned around. Sketch held a bunch of rocks.

"Yay! Target practice!" He cheered. He started throwing more rocks at the knights, each one hitting. Sub and Braden started attacking the knights as well.

One of the knights went up behind Braden with his sword.

"Braden!" Sub yelled. He quickly jumped in front of the sword, getting hit instead. A huge wound went across his torso. Braden helped Sub to safety and fought the knight. I ran over to Alex. The king stood in front of him. He lifted his top arms. A shield formed around me. It started to get smaller and smaller to the point where I was curled up.

"STOP!" Alex screamed. Everything paused. The knights were frozen, the shield stopped shrinking, and the whole world stopped. The others were still moving. Alex pushed away from his frozen dad and helped me. He made the shield disappear and pulled me over to the others.

"Let's go. I don't know how long the spell will last!" Alex said. Sketch ran over to Sub and carried him. We started running.

We got a far distance and the world went back to normal. Alex looked tired. The spell must have taken a lot of energy. Not to mention that we've been running away for about a day with no stops.

"I say we take a break," I said. The others all agreed and we rested against a few trees we found.

I woke up in the middle of the night. Everyone was asleep, except Sketch. He was sitting a bit farther away, looking at the sky.

"Sketch? Why aren't you sleeping?" I mumbled sitting next to him.

"Oh. I don't sleep much." I nodded. "Denis. Promise you'll dn ǝʞɐʍ." I looked at Sketch. What? I am awake. Is this a dream?

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"We bɘɘᴎ you, Denis. Please.." Sketch mumbled and turned to me. His smile was gone. I stood up. What the hell is going on?! I heard a sudden beeping. This has to be a dream.

I suddenly shot up sweating. I was back under the tree. I turned to Sketch. He was under the tree as well but he was awake, playing with the bells on his sleeves.

He saw me and smiled wider.

"Hey, Denis! Did I wake you?" Sketch cheered. I sighed. It was a dream, but it felt so real. I shook my head and rubbed my eyes.

"Uh. No. You're good." I said. Sketch's smile grew wider and he turned back to his sleeve.
