Chapter Eight †

***************************

I quickly dismissed the thought, blaming it on the wind that was blowing in from the door Harley was holding open for us. Damon, Olivia, Harley and I piled into Damon's truck. We offered to drive Selene and Jake, but they said they were going to ride in Jake's truck.

We pulled onto the road and drove in the direction on the amusement park. I could feel the tension in the air, and I loved the feeling. I was so excited, it was impossible to stay still. I had chosen to sit in the back with Harley, and he grabbed my arms and forced me to stay in one spot.

"You're making me dizzy. Breath." I breathed. "Let it out." I let it out. "Think of calming things, a lazy river, somewhere outside of the city." I thought of a large alien spaceship crashing down to the Earth. "Say Harley is amazing."

"Harley is amazing.... Hey!" I folded my arms across my chest.

"You can't be mad at the truth Angel."

"So?!" I stuck my tongue out at him.

"You look ridiculous. Stop that."

I sighed and nodded my head, tucking my tongue back into my mouth.

Harley laughed and managed to give me one armed hug. Laughing, I hugged him back tightly. He really was my best friend. When he released me from the hug, I of course started fidgeting again. I heard Harley sigh, but he didn't say anything. I took that as a sign that he wasn't even going to try.

"Who the hell gave her coffee this morning?"

"I don't know, but whoever it was, is an idiot."

I snorted. "I gave myself coffee, thank you very much."

Harley and Damon busted into laughter while Olivia turned and gave me the ' you walked right into that one' look. I smiled sheepishly at her to let her that I knew, but didn't care in the slightest. I was way to hyper to be embarrassed. I grabbed my ipod out of my pocket and inserted the ear buds in my ears.

We drove with the California traffic, honking the horn more than once. Damon and I expressed our hate to morons through the much loved horn, our road rage drove everyone else insane of course.

"She just stopped a little short Damon! Did you really need to blow the freaking horn again?" Olivia exclaimed.

"Her stopping short could've caused me to ram into the bumper. Yes, there was a need for the horn. Right Angel?"

I jerked slightly, pulling one of the ear buds out and holding it in my hand, tilting my head to the side. "What?" I asked innocently.

Damon sighed. "Just say right."

Simple enough. "Right!" I chirped cheerfully.

"See? Told you." I could practically see the smirk that was no doubt on his handsome face.

"She doesn't even know what the hell we're talking about you big oaf!" Olivia screeched.

That was true. I didn't know what the hell we they were talking about. Ew, what if it was about pickles? What if Damon had said, "Pickles are amazing, right Angel?" Then, I would without a doubt be lying because pickles were disgusting. Why would you eat something that was green?! It looked unsanitary, and the taste. Revolting things.

Damon and Olivia continued to argue while I was thinking about how gross pickles were. From what I could gather, it didn't sound anything like a pickle conversation, so I tuned out and stared out the passing buildings and skyscrapers. I wasn't really a big city person to tell the truth, but even I had to admit, the buildings were impressive. The way they seemed to go on forever and the way they stood so strong.
