Chapter Two †

*******************************

"Strike! Yes!" Harley Dallas pumped his fist in the air.

"That's his fourth strike in a row." Damon groaned.

"You're just mad you have no skill. Admit it. I am the bowling master."

"Yeah I'm not going to admit that. Nice try though."

Damon and Harley went at it for a few more minutes until Olivia told them to knock it off. Now,it was my turn. So far, I had managed to get five gutter balls, dropped the ball on my foot, and caused the ball to go in the lane to the right of us into the gutter, staying in the middle. And I called this safer than skating? HA. So I wasn't really all that excited if you want to know the truth. My score was seven and we were on the eighth frame.

I swung the ball back and somehow I let go and it rolled behind me.

"Okay I officialy give up!." I turned around and sat down in the unomfortable seat.

Harley, still laughing, sat next to me.

"Oh God, stop laughing at me."

"You know you want to laugh."

"No."

"Come on. Laugh. Think about those kids faces when you threw the ball into their lane."

I thought about it and started laughing. Their faces had been a mix of shock and amusement, mouths falling open, eyes wide as saucers, but you could see the twitch in their temples that let you know if their mouths weren't hanging open they would be fighting holding back a grin.

"See. Now get up there and try again."

"Uhm. No."

Harley laughed and wrapped me in a one arm hug. I had known Harley for four years, and he was probably my best friend. And, being the honest person I was, I wasn't afarid to say that Harley was really good looking. He was tall, really tall. He towered over me a good four inches. He had longish black hair, his eyes were a pretty dark green and he had freckles on his face. He was sweet and you could tell him anything and trust him not to judge. Harley could always make me smile.

Olivia walked over to us. "Okay I'm done. I will never bowl again, because that was horrible."

"Hey, you got past ten points. Okay? I don't even want to hear it."

Olivia grinned, and Damon walked over.

"Well Harley won. Surprised? No."

Everyone laughed. I looked at my watch. It was 8:30. Not late at all. I wasn't ready to go home to an empty house anyways.

"Guys, I'm so not ready to go home. So how about we roam around the town?"

Everyone agreed and we all got into Damon's truck. We didn't know where we were going to go, and that made it all the more fun.

Damon pulled up in front of a gas station. We all looked at him like he was insane. What fun was there to be had at a dirty gas station?

"Hey I need gas. Do you want to end up on the side of the road and be picked up by child pedophiles? No."

That was true. I didn't want to be picked up by some creeper. I didn't feel like dying anytime soon.

Everyone piled out of he truck. I needed some gum anyways. In my opinion you can never have enough gum. Harley followed me into the store. Walking up to the cash register while he stayed in the window looking at all the ads, and upcoming movie posters,I picked out a random type of gum and paid for it, said thanks, smiled, and walked away.Harley had a flyer clutched in his hands and he was studying it intently. I looked down at it. It was an ad for Lakeside Amusement Park in the next town over. It looked like fun. Kind of creepy.Something we would all love. I sighed. To bad that we could never go.

I didn't realize I said it out loud until Harley looked at me and grinned. "I think we could if we really wanted too."

"Yeah, like my parents would ever go for that."

"You're almost eighteen Angel. Your parents know they can't keep you locked up forever. Ask them. All four of us could go for fall break. Two weeks. No parents just all of us."

"I don't know...."

"Hey, the worst they can do is say no. You don't go, we won't go. So, will you please please please ask them?"

I sighed. I knew when I was beat. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't resist the puppy dog eyes he was looking at me with. It was my greatest weakness and everyone knew that. "Fine. I'll ask."

"Great! Lets go tell Olivia and Damon. I'm sure they'll be all for it."

And they were. Damon thought it was the best idea since peanut butter on bread and Olivia thought it was just the thing she needed to keep from going insane.

So it was settled. Now all we had to do was ask. Damon knew he could go. He was sweet and thoughtful, the exact opposite of his parents. They let him do whatever he wanted as long as he didn't bother them.

As for the rest of us we had to ask the parents. We drove around for a little while longer and then Damon drove us back to the bowling alley to get our cars. I got into my BMW and drove torwards home. When I pulled up into the drive, I saw that mom and dad were home. I walked in the door, put my keys on the table, kicked off my shoes, and went looking for them. I might as well get this over with right?

I found them in the kitchen fixing popcorn. I guess they were going to watch a movie or something.

"Hi sweetie. Did you have fun tonight?" My mom asked, smiling at me.

I leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. "Yeah mom."

I hugged my dad and sat on the stool at the bar. I didn't even know how I was going to bring it up.

"Um, can I ask you guys something?"

"Sure Angel."

"Well...I'm seventeen now and this year for fall break, I'd like to go somewhere with my friends. There's this amusement park in the next town and I want to go. So, is that okay?" I closed my eyes and crossed my fingers behind my back.

They were quite for a long time. So long that I thoght they were just going to ignore me. But then I heard my dad sigh. It was a sound I loved to hear. It was his surrendering sigh.

I opened my eyes, looking at my parents hopefully.

"I guess you can go. Just try to call us a few times, so we know you're okay, alright?"

"Yes! Thank you thank you thank you thank you!" I jumped up off the stool and ran to my room, taking my cell out of my pocket along the way. I called Damon first, dialing his number quickly. He picked up on the first ring.

"Hello?"

"Hey it's me. I can go!"

Damon laughed. "Thats great Angel. Harley and Olivia can go too. They told me to tell you that we're leaving Monday morning 8:00."

"Got it. See you then. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up my phone and put it on the table. I could hardly wait for Monday to come. Thats a new one. I hated Mondays. But for this, I could make an exception.
