"Hey, are you okay?" The young girl asked. She smiled brightly at me as she inspected my cast.
I nod shyly before engrossing myself into another book. My pride, and belly bruised by the bullies.
A light shuffling near the tree behind me makes me turn around. The girl sat down behind me, the leaves crunching underneath her.
She looked around the small spot we were in with a tight look on her face, only smiling when she picked up a small yellow flower.
She giggled slightly and handed it to me, taking the book out of my hand and spreading my palm open.
"Here. Now we're best friends." She laughed, seemingly proud of herself.
I raise my eyebrow in confusion
"How does that work?" I ask plainly.
Who'd want to be friends with me anyways?
"Well, I'm Lisa. My mom calls me Lily. And Lily is a flower. So I can just give you any flower right?" She asks, thinking about what she had just said.
A small smile brushes along my face with the wind, but as soon as the wind stops my smile drops.
I look down at the flower in my hand.
I was just reading about this. It's a yellow Lily. Thankfulness and the strong desire of enjoyment. Thats what this Lily means.
"This is a Lily. And your Lily." I say, trying not to smile at the gesture.
"Yep. And since I gave you it, that means I'm yours. But for you to be mine you'd have to give me something that reminds me off you" She exclaimed happily, as if she had just found the solution to all our problems
I sigh playfully and reach into my pocket. The only thing I have is my necklace. I spin the loose silver chain in my hand until the small jewel comes out.
It's nothing special. Just a ruby attached to a small slide of metal.
I hand it over to Lisa carefully, but retract it as she goes to grab it.
"Heyy" She whines.
"You only get this if you promise to be my best friend forever" I bargain, smiling at her little pout
She looks at me with a strange look on her face, edging closer to me. In reaction I pull my head back slightly.
"Is there dirt on my face?" I ask, wiping the sides of my face.
She smiles gently and shakes her head, her hands reaching my face as she gently tugs my cheeks
"You have a pretty smile."
I blush at her words, but feel myself smiling just a bright
"I promise to be your friend forever and ever"
I smile and stand up, brushing the small bits of dirt of my long forgotten book. I tuck it in my book bag and offer my hand to my new found friend.
She takes it with a smile and stands next to me, laughing when she sees the height difference.
"Your short" She laughs, patting my head
I huff and laugh with her
"I'm not short, I'm growing."
She laughs and grabs my hand as we walk towards the playground, arms swinging in sync.
"My names Jennie by the way."
"I know, you sit next to me in art" Lisa says, smiling brightly as she opens the playground gates for me
"Well now we can talk and partner up in art." I say proudly, putting my book down on the ground as we sit on the swings, waiting for our parents.
Lisa smiles and nods her head rapidly, her bangs not moving.
"We're gonna be the best ever friends in the entire world and then one day I'll marry you!"
I giggle at her words and look up at the ocean blue sky.
"I hope so"

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*
I groan, throwing my hand out of my covers to try to hush the noise, but it keeps going.
Grabbing my phone of the table I slide my hand back under the cover, annoyed that I had to loose so much warmth for a phone call.
I put the phone to my ear and groan heavily, exciting a laugh from the other person
"Do you know how early it is?" I grumble, not opening my eyes
"Yeah, do you know we have to meet Chu and Chaeng today?" Lisa says excitedly.
Over all these years she's still so fucking hyper
"Lis, I love you. But this is ridiculous, it's probably 6 am right now isn't it?" I question, eyes still not opening.
"Maybeee" Lisa drags out
"I can see you smiling from here." I quip, my eyes still tightly shut.
Lets keep the dreams running so I can fall back into a peaceful slumber
"And I can literally see you only moved your arm to grab your phone and then you buried yourself back into the covers. So open your window and let me climb up and into the warmth please"
My eyes shoot open as I quickly throw the covers off.
"Lisa how many times do I have to tell you not to come out when it's cold. You know you get ill easy" I scold, looking down at the grinning orange haired girl.
I sigh and hang up the phone, opening the window with my free hand.
Lisa jumps happily and starts to carefully climb the tree outside my window.
Once she gets to the top I lean slightly out the window and offer my hand, which she takes as she steps onto the windowsill.
"It's not nice to hang up on me mid conversation you know?" She jokes, taking off the extra top and pants she wore to climb the tree.
I sink back into my bed, leaving the cover slightly up for Lisa to get in once she's done
"It's not nice to wake your best friend up at 6 am for a 11 am hangout" I reply.
She giggles and climbs into the bed, hugging me as she puts the covers over our heads.
"Night Jennie"
I murmur in response, not having the energy to speak fluent or coherent words
Sleep comes easier when Lisa's around.
<--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
I wake up once again, but Lisa's no where to be seen
Probably downstairs talking to mom again I think, slowly getting out of bed.
A small buzzing noise grabs my attention. I look down at Lisa's phone and read the notification
JUNGKOOK
Hey Babe, wanna go out tomorrow?
A faint fluttering pain in my chest makes me look away quickly. I go to my bedroom door and open it.
"Lisa! JK messaged you!" I shout down.
"Okay!" She shouts back
I head to the bathroom, the fluttering pain in my chest getting worse by the second.
I feel myself hyperventilating as I step into the lime green room. I shut the door quickly and slide down onto the ground.
I have no right to feel this way.
I cry silently remembering a younger, innocent Lisa's words
One day I'll marry you
I have no right to feel this pain, we were just kids.
