In my opinion, there are two actual techniques to writing with each other. Together separately; and together together.

Separately: Writing separately means you are keeping your individual writing separate. This may mean writing in alternating POVs, and both writing in the point of view of a different character. You could also write your story, alternating who writes which chapter, or even alternating each paragraph.

Together: For this method, your writing must meld together as one, and you form every sentence of your novel together. You will need to be able to talk to each other for this one, as it will involve quite a bit of debate. You can also try techniques like one of you outlines what happens, and the other narrates it... There are a lot of ways to play around with this one.
