There's gonna be a few POV switches between Y/N and Kuroo, also again with the long ass chapter-
~~~
You didn't know when you had made your way over to Kuroo's side, but as you awoke to the small beam of light that made its way past your eyelids, you found yourself once again wrapped up in his embrace. His peaceful breaths on your forehead and his calloused hands across your torso, his thumb rubbing small circles in your skin where your shirt lifted slightly. It felt like this had been happening more often than not, and if you were being honest with yourself, you didn't mind it that much.
Sure, being able to cuddle a very attractive guy was nice and all, but that wasn't the main reason you continued to let it happen. You felt safe in his arms, secure in a way you knew nobody else could make you feel. And for that, you were grateful.
Unbeknownst to you, he felt the same way. Being able to hold you in such an intimate way was comforting, a constant reminder that he wasn't in this alone, that he had someone else by his side. He was thankful for you. Thankful you agreed to run off with him, though, a part of him wished you had a bit more backbone when it came to making such big decisions, but he also knew he could help with that later.
It was almost impossible to fully relax, however, due to the many pressing concerns that still lingered at the back of his mind. Where would you go from here? Should he switch cars? If so, how would he do that? Where would he get the money? You'd need new ID's too, new looks. He hadn't even considered that there might be pictures of you both posted everywhere! What happens if or WHEN you run out of money?? What-
"Kuroo." The sound of your sleepy voice caused him to pull his head back a bit to look at you, your eyes littered with exhaustion. "Um, can you ease up a bit? You're gonna leave a bruise."
Following the gesture you'd made by tilting your head downwards, he realized he had been so lost in his worries that he had subconsciously started to grip at your sides harder. Quickly, he retracted his hands and mumbled out an apology.
"It's fine." You chuckled before shifting a bit to where you were leaning up on your elbow, your eyes quietly searching his features before asking, "what were you thinking about?"
"What? Nothing." He quickly responded.
"Mhm, nothing. Right, yeah- so your resting face is that of someone so deeply lost in thought, right?" You quipped, a sly smirk appearing on your lips.
"Maybe it is, you don't know that." Like a child, he pouted and huffed, crossing his arms in the process while dramatically turning his chin up with his eyes closed.
You chuckled and ruffled his hair a bit. "You're an actual child, you know that?"
He opened his eyes back to you, ready to give another witty response before he stopped. The words couldn't seem to leave his mouth, and he noticed...you were smiling. For the first time since he'd met you...you smiled. Sure, it was only a small one, but a smile nonetheless.
He didn't realize until then that he had completely neglected trying to better the situation. Instead, he was focused on keeping you distracted, alive, and out of more trouble. He hadn't even considered your happiness.
Biting the inside of his cheek, he furrowed his brows and muttered a few words before sitting himself up, you following his actions.
"Okay, seriously. What's up?" You rubbed his back between his shoulder blades, your fingers running over the area where you could feel the ridges and bumps of his muscles even through his shirt.
He sighed deeply and shook his head. Running a hand through his hair, he looked back at you. "I'm just..." How do I say this without worrying her... "Just planning out next steps. Ya'know, like, where we go from here and stuff like that." Perfect, keep it vague.
