The Trial

(I am going back to the 1st person past tense instead of the present tense diary)

Being brought to trial was not on my bucket list. It might be on other peoples but definitely not mine. A trial in Olympus was literally the exact opposite of one on Earth. Their motto is that "she is innocent until proven guilty but we can still threaten to hang her in the trial". See that sounds great but not to good when you are she. Seriously, they tied a rope around my neck and put me on a platform that was 20 feet above the ground with the surviving Olympians in stands. We were in a stadium. The platform just required a button and it would fall out from under me. On a table that was levitating in the air at my height with Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus with some other gods and goddesses sitting there as well.

"We are here to decide on the ruling of one Harper Angel Louis for murder of 130 people," Zeus's big booming voice silenced the talking that had ensued.

I held my gasp in at the number of people that I had killed with my own two hands. The rope tightened a little on me and I saw Hades twirling his finger so I figured he was doing it. My fingers itched to unleash my magic but I stayed where I was, knowing full well that I deserved what was coming.

"Ms. Louis, you have no attorney or lawyer and you must simply defend yourself," Poseidon explained.

I didn't know that he wanted me to do it now so I waited until Hades yelled to start. I took a big breath in and decided to go the more sentimental way.

"I can't defend myself..." I started.

Gasps and shocked whispers filled the room as everyone stared in shock.

"Because I am very much guilty for my actions. I must instead tell those in this room why they are mourning those they loved and cared for. I understand what it feels like when you lose someone, hell, I've gone through it 3 times. I don't want to pity you but instead say that if I was able, I would bring everyone who died back in sacrifice for myself. That being said, I have had this energy, since I was a baby and I always thought it came from my parents. I was also gifted with the magic of wind. However, that has been stripped from me for an unknown reason. I was in combat with Poseidon when a bomber came and attempted to kill the God. I surrounded the bomber with my energy and stopped the fire from hitting the God but I didn't have enough control to keep it from falling down off the mountain and onto the villagers.

I can't explain why this occurred and I can't give you a reason or motive for me killing those people because I had no motive. No reason to murder a 100 people and I certainly didn't do it purposefully. I know as much as you know. I also am aware that the answer I just gave won't satisfy nor will it stop you from wanting me killed. When my parents died, the only explanation that I could be given was that they were KIA on a mission. That didn't help my grief, it angered me more knowing that I couldn't or wasn't allowed to know how those who I loved had died and why it had happened. I am probably just admitting the truth that you have denied yourselves. Because me dying won't cure your aching nor will your revenge solve you grief. But I do want to know that I blame myself for this awful crime and that I hope you know that I won't blame you or be mad if you blame me to because I am the murderer and the criminal. Thank you for letting me defend my case," I finished.

Everyone was looking at me with wide eyes. Their mouths were agape and no one moved, it was like they were frozen. It started behind me, one man started to clap, it was slow but soon the entire audience was giving me applause. Zeus stood up as to claim that he was about to speak but the citizens didn't care and kept clapping. He cleared his throat, nothing. He finally just spoke out in a large voice "Silence!". It reminded me of Dumbledore. He looked to me.

"You have defended you case well, but you have to see that as you put it, you are still very much guilty for your crimes. However, we still have no origin on your powers therefore you shall be counseled until the reason is found, then your sentence will be decided," The crowd's cheering was extremely loud after my sentence was announced.

"You humans are so weird!" A huge voice silenced the entire crowd and it came from above.
