Summer Love

Chapter 3.

I couldn't wait for this moment. I'm getting dressed into jeans and a tank top. I touched up my makeup and pulled my vans on. I tightened my rainbow bun on the top of my head and walked out of my room. I made my way outside where everyone was sitting on a log around the fire. I saw Luke who saw me as I saw him as stood up. He stepped over people and made his way to me. I smiled.

"Shall we sit down with my friends." he asked throwing his thumb behind him pointing at them.

I looked over at them and saw them whispering as they looked over at me and laughed. I looked back at Luke.

"It's fine. You sit with them. I don't really fit in." I smiled.

"They'd love to have your company."

"Fine." I sighed and followed behind him as he made his way back to his seat.

I took the seat in between Luke's legs due to there being no more room on the log. Luke handed me the metal rod with a marshmallow on it. I sat it above the fire and waited. I could hear Luke's friends whispering and laughing. I pulled the metal out and the marshmallow was perfect. Luke helped me transport it onto the cracker with chocolate. He handed it to me and I ate it quietly. I listened as some people played a song on the guitar.

"Do you wanna go?" Luke whispered in my ear.

I turned to look at him and nodded. He stood up and I pushed myself up. I stood up and wiped my hands on my jeans. He began walking as I stood up so I jogged up to him. I followed next to him and followed him into the woods. It was quiet and you could hear the Owls and crickets. We walked on the stone path that circles around the lake.

"So?" Luke spoke.

"I thought you said this was gonna be fun." I laughed and looked over at him.

"Just wait you'll see after we get around this curve." he smirked.

I laughed and crossed my arms over my chest to keep myself warm. Luke took off his varsity jacket.

"Oh no. You don't have to put it on. I'm fine." I stopped to look at him.

"It's cold and you might get sick just let me be a gentleman and put this on you." he laughed.

I rolled my eyes playfully and let him slip the jacket on me. I smiled as we went back to walking. As we began turning the curve I could see that the whole forest was foggy and hard to see through. Luke ran into it as I stayed back.

"Come on Melissa." he called and I laughed.

I slowly walked through and regretted it. I looked around and kept walking. I could hear Luke walking and calling my name. I kept laughing while trying to look for him. I soon was pressed against a tree. I saw Luke and smiled.

"Hi." I blushed.

"Hi." he said slowly as he took my hair out of the bun.

It cascaded over my shoulders.

"I like your hair better down." he smiled.

He has his face close to mine and his hands on my waist. I felt his lips press onto mine and slowly move. I brought my hand to his cheek and caressed it. He pulled away and my hand was still on his cheek. He kept looking at my hand so I took it and ran it down his face. He laughed and pulled me away. We began walking out and finally I could see the cabin and fire. I stood next to him with my hands in the jacket pockets. We couldn't stop laughing about me wiping my hand down his face.

We walked up the grass and to the fire. Everyone was still sitting there, some people asleep and some people wide awake. As I tried walking towards the cabin he grabbed my waist and turned me towards the fire. He pushed me over and sat me down in front of him.

"Luke. It's late." I sighed.

"Just stay out here. If you fall asleep I'll wake you up." he said pulling my hair into his hands.

I nodded and leaned back. He played with my hair as he was talking to his friends. I kept dosing out.

"Luke. I'm gonna head inside." I mumbled as I stood up and walked up to the cabin.

I yawned as I made my way down the hall.

"Melissa Jane Waters!" My dad shouted.

I turned around. He rushed up to me.

"Where were you?"

"I took a walk around the lake with Luke." I shrugged.

"I expect you in the kitchen tomorrow morning."

"Okay. Can I sleep now?" I sighed.

He turned and walked off. I walked into my room and flopped down on my bed not bothering to change.
