"Alright," he conceded before falling Wei Ying back into town.
Wei Ying rubbed his sleepy eyes before slowly surveying the room.
"Nghh... the light is too bright," Wei Ying moaned, sitting up in bed. He blinked his eyes rapidly, trying to adjust to the morning rays. "Lan Zhan? Wak-" Wei Ying yelped as a heavy weight pulled him back. Wei Ying had just been about to wake Lan Zhan up when the latter had suddenly latched onto his waist, and dragged him back. "Lan Zhan..." Wei Ying pouted, trying to move away the arm that Lan Zhan used to hold him in place. "It's time to wake up..."
Lan Zhan ignored Wei Ying and tucked him onto his chest. "Quiet." he said, gently rubbing circles over and over on Wei Ying's waist.
Wei Ying snorted. It felt weird that he was the one telling Lan Zhan to wake up. Usually Lan Zhan would wake up at 5AM sharp in the mornings- per the Lan Sects rules. This time it was different. It was nearly noon when Wei Ying had woken, and Lan Zhan still didn't want to get out of bed.
Wei Ying smirked, "Lan-er gege, are you tired from last night?" he asked innocently, making no attempt to cover the bite marks Lan Zhan had left all over his neck and chest. The marks were especially prominent against Wei Ying's pale and creamy skin.
Lan Zhan lowered his eyes, a blush creeping up the sides of his neck. His ears were already a bright red.
Wei Ying laughed. "Lan Zhan you fuddy duddy. You get riled up over everything! Don't worry, nothing really happened last night- I was just teasing you."
Lan Zhan's brows twitched. "W-Wh-" he cleared his throat, "What happened last night?"
Wei Ying pouted. He pointed an accusing finger at Lan Zhan, "You bit me and passed out! We didn't even get to the fun part," he frowned, resentment swelling up inside him. 'Lan Zhan was so close to fucking me... then he fell asleep! That fuddy duddy! He fell asleep right before all the magic was supposed to happen!' he thought bitterly. 'I'm never going to get laid...'
Wei Ying huffed and pointed to the marks on his chest, "You see this? You even marked me!"
Lan Zhan shrugged, "You reap what you sow."
Wei Ying shivered at his words. For some strange reason, Wei Ying felt like he was going to regret being so cheeky. He suddenly felt quite regretful. 'I shouldn't have teased him,' he thought.
"Aww Lan Zhan, don't be like that," he whined, "If you be good, I'll treat you later," Wei Ying winked.
Lan Zhan blushed, "Shameless."
Wei Ying just laughed, "Come on Lan-er gege, I'm hungry."
---------
"Lauhn Zhnamf-" Wei Ying said as he tried to swallow the dumplings he'd stuffed in his mouth.
"Do not speak when eating," Lan Zhan reprimanded in a strict voice, trying to hold back his laughter.
Wei Ying just glared at him, his bulging cheeks puffing out like a rabbit. Lan Zhan wanted to chuckle at the sight, but swallowed it back when he saw the expression on Wei Ying's face.
Wei Ying chewed as fast as he could before finally managing to get a breath in, "Lan Zhan! It's not funny. I just overestimated the amount of food I can eat! It's not my fault," he pouted, "When I lived on the streets, food was scarce so I just ate what I could! And over time, it became a habit for me to each as much as possible since I never knew when my next meal was."
Lan Zhan sobered at the reminder. Wei Ying had sufferered so much in his past life. Now that he had Lan Zhan, the latter would make sure that his Wei Ying would never feel hungry again.
Wei Ying sighed at the pained look on Lan Zhan's face. "It's ok," he murmured, gently lacing their fingers together. "I'm back aren't I? I know you'll take good care of me from now on!"
Lan Zhan nodded vigorously, "Mn."
Wei Ying laughed at the earnest look in his eyes. "You're too cute," he muttered before reaching up on his tiptoes and placing a quick kiss on Lan Zhan's cheek.
Lan Zhan flushed, face stained pink.
He was just about to respond when the sky suddenly lit a bright blue. The Gusu Lan Sects isigma appeared in the air, and hovered for a moment before fading.
It was a help signal.
Lan Zhan immediately sobered.
"They must be in trouble..." Wei Ying murmured. "Hurry! Let's ask around and see if we can find someone!" he said as he grabbed Lan Zhan's hand and dashed forwards.
They hurried from stall to stall, asking if anyone had seen the Lan Sect disciples.
"Excuse me, have you see any juniors, around 15 years old, wearing white robes?" Wei Ying asked a charlatan they saw on the side of the street.
"Eh? You mean those kids wearing white with blue clouds in the front?"
"Yes!" Wei Ying exclaimed, relieved that they had finally found a lead. After nearly an hour of questioning everyone in sight, he had finally received something other than a strange look and an "I don't know."
Wei Ying was ecstatic, his mood instantly becoming better.
"Yea they went that direction," the swindler pointed an offhanded finger forward. "East, near the Shudong area."
"Thank you!" Wei Ying replied, gratefully. He tossed the charlatan a few pieces of silver from Lan Zhan's money pouch.
The man beamed as he grabbed the silver. "Of course young masters!" "Oh and be careful! The Shudong area is haunted!" he called before grinning at the silver in his hands. 'These fools. They must be quite rich to just throw away silver like that...' he thought before turning back to his stand.
---------
"Lan Zhannnn," Wei Ying whined. "Are you sure this is the right direction?"
Lan Zhan glanced at him, amusement dancing in his golden eyes. "You were the one that led us here."
Wei Ying frowned, "Yea... I think that charlatan fooled us." he cursed, "I shouldn't have given him my money."
Lan Zhan's brow twitched as it inched upwards. The money Wei Ying had spent was his. He opened his mouth to reply, but was cut off by a shrill voice.
"Lan Zhan I think we should turn back," Wei Ying complained. "There's no one here!"
"Wei Yi-"
"Gege?" a small voice asked behind them. They whipped around to see a young girl, around five years old look up at them with a toothy smile. "Are you looking for the geges in white?" she asked and pointed North, "They went that way!" **
Wei Ying smiled and thanked her. He turned back to Lan Zhan, "Lan Zhan! Let's go!" he said as they hurried North.
In their haste, they didn't pause to ask themselves, 'How did a little girl appear out of nowhere? Especially since this area is mostly deserted?'
---------
Wei Ying stopped in front of the heavy gates to Yi City. "Hmm... are you sure this is the place?" he asked doubtfully. It looked like an abandoned ghost town. Fog covered the entire area like a cloak, and there was no light shining through. It was misty and humid, with not a soul in sight.
Lan Zhan nodded, "Mn."
Wei Ying sighed. "Alright," he muttered before kicking the creaking gates open. "I have a bad feeling about this..."
**Gege (哥哥) means brother in chinese.
