Kiyoko held her breath as she snuck into the street. It felt so strang trying to return to school after everything that happened but the place had yet to be broken into and it would allow them to make the weapons in peace. Picking up a rock, she threw it down the alleyway, drawing the attention of the infected.
"Come on," Kiyoko whispered, dashing across the street. She jumped on top of the bins and flipped over the fence, shocking both Tsukishima and Michi. Yachi looked at her girlfriend with sparkles in her eyes as Asahi jumped over the fence. He too found it easy to land on the other side.
"You first," Tsukishima ordered, not liking the idea of Michi being attacked without him there to save him. Michi nodded, rushing across the street. He struggled a little to get on the bins and almost knocked them over but he fell over to the other side clumsily.
Tsukishima ran forward, sliding the machete through the gate before swiftly jumping the fence. He smiled a little at Michi who was rubbing his ass with a hiss. "That hurt," he complained as Tsukishima pulled him close, laughing quietly. Michi stuck his tongue out but didn't fight against the taller.
"Come on Yachi," Kiyoko ordered, getting close to the net so she could catch her little girlfriend.
Yachi had to take a deep breath before she bolted across the road. She shook as she stood on the bin, squeaking as she almost fell over.
"Hey, it's okay," Kiyoko soothed. Yachi jumped up, just catching the top of the gate as the bins collapsed to the ground. Yachi flailed about helplessly trying to pull herself over the metal. Kiyoko swiftly held her hands through the bars for Yachi to stand on.
"Kiyoko! Infected incoming!"
True to Asahi's word, an infected was coming this way. Quite a few actually. They were coming from every angle, they must have heard the crash.
"Come on Yachi!" Kiyoko tried to push Yachi up but the girl only lost her footing and almost fell to the ground. Kiyoko was panicking, she was trying not to but this was her girlfriend; she was allowed to freak out.
Tsukishima looked around him, spotting some old textbooks thrown out the window- probably Tanaka and Nishinoya's doing. He rushed over, picking up the hardcovers and throwing them over the gate. Tsukishima was surprisingly accurate as he hit the infected in the head.
Yachi felt something grabbing his ankle, making her scream. She kicked back, hitting the infected in the head. Michi picked up Tsukishima's machete, cutting through the infected's hand and freeing Yachi. She managed to pull herself up and over, falling on top of her girlfriend who scooted them away.
"That was too close," Tsukishima stated, taking his weapon back from Michi's hands.
Kiyoko nodded, holding the shaking Yachi close. Asahi patted Tsukishima back. "Good quick thinking, Tsukki," he praised.
"We wouldn't need quick thinking if we were more prepared."
"Well, we can do that now," Kiyoko stated, pulling herself and Yachi up from the floor. "Come on, let's search the school... again."
Michi wandered aimlessly. He didn't know where he was going or what he would find but Tsukishima told him to find as many weapons as he could. Michi found himself in what he assumed was the teachers' lounge, there wasn't a lot that could be used as an actual weapon but if Tsukishima proved anything, it was that anything could be used as a weapon in an emergency.
Michi pulled open the draw, freezing slightly. He gently picked up the framed photo. It was the Karasuno High school volleyball team. This was Tsukishima's friends.
Tsukishima was watching from the side, a little unimpressed with the team. Yamaguchi was leaning down, looking directly at the camera with a hand scratching his hair. A small orange head was collapsed under Asahi and Tanaka. Sugawara was on Asahi's other side, patting the back of a black-haired boy with a confused expression. Daichi has one hand holding onto Sugawara and the other placed on Tanaka's back. a different boy with two-toned hair was at the front with a bright expression. A different boy Michi didn't recognise was looking over the two-toned boy but before Kiyoko who looked really sigh. There were two others, one near the orange head with dirty blond hair and one behind him with more of a shaved head. Lastly, in the background was a man with blond hair and a man with black hair. A black banner was decorating the back wall, the Karasuno High School banner.
Judging from the lack of a certain blond hair girl, the picture likely came from before they lost the inter-high. Guessing from the banner, it was likely just before the event. That was so long ago. Tsukishima had a strange fondness in his eyes- though he would have denied it. Michi felt his heart beating. Would the other members like him? Would he have liked them? This was such a big part of Tsukishima's life but he never took part in it. He should have taken part in it.
Now he couldn't. He never could meet the others. He could never be a part of that life. Michi swore to himself, once they were out, he will play with Tsukishima and he will help with the team and cheer them on in every match. Tsukishima may never recover from this, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a life.
"Michi? Are you alright?" Tsukishima pulled open the door, letting out a sigh of relief when he finally saw Michi. He had gotten worried when Michi didn't return but the smaller had just gotten distracted.
"Yeah... What were their names?" Michi moved slightly to show Tsukishima the picture. Tsukishima wrapped his arms around Michi's waist, laying his chin on the smaller head.
Tsukishima froze for a second before pointing at Daichi. "That's, Daichi, the captain and opposite spiker. Sugawara, our vice-captain and setter. Asahi, our wing spiker and ace. Noya was our libero and ‘the guardian.’ Tanaka, Ennoshita, Kinoshita and Narita. That is Kageyama- the king- he was the official setter and that is Hinata; he was a middle blocker but he wanted to be a wing spiker and ace; he was our decoy. Then that is Coach Ukai and Takeda-sensei." Tsukishima went through each person, pointing at each to help Michi.
"I wish I could have met them," Michi whispered, brushing a finger over the glass. "I wish I could have met them properly at least."
Tsukishima placed a gentle kiss onto Michi's forehead. "So do I. Now come on, we need to leave soon."
"Okay." Placing down the picture, Michi gave a sad look towards it. To the Tsukishima he will never meet. "I hope you are all at peace..."
