Violet's POV
(Sinn Estate)

Before I even opened my eyes, all I could feel was the pain, my breathing, and heartbeat accelerating from it.  I was afraid to move on the soft mattress, and I winced as I tried. Laying on my stomach, I found I was naked, but I didn't care.

The man called Ion was in the room, I could hear his lowered voice as he spoke to Liam at the door. Though I couldn't see them, It was okay. Karrack had left me behind with this man, so I should be safe with him... I think.

Confused, I tried to remember this man that has called me his friend, and white-hot-searing pain shot through my head like all of my neurons were on fire. I cried out, moving my hands to cradle my head causing even more pain from my back.

Ion rushed over to the edge of the bed but didn't touch me. "Stop trying to remember me, Violet. The pain will subside. Give it time." Looking up at him, I knew I was a mess, but I didn't care.

"Why didn't it hurt before, when Karrack asked me if I knew you?" I whined, but he was right, the pain in my head was subsiding.

His hand slowly reached out and his hand caressed my cheek while his thumb wiped away at my tears. "Karrack had evidently only commanded you to forget. Had he wiped your memory there would have been no pain, ever. Nothing." When I thought about it, it must be true. I have only vague memories surrounding Karrack and not all "felt" like they were good.

"Why would he do this to me?" I asked Ion quietly.

Ion sighed heavily and rested his elbows on his knees. "To make me suffer, according to his own words." He paused and turned to gaze into my eyes. "Violet, you and I had become lovers. I care about you a great deal, and he found out about it. At the same time, there was the contract..."

My mind blocked his words out for a few seconds putting me in a slight daze, remembering... "Yes, the contract..." My words came out like a whisper.

He placed his hand over mine on top of the sheet I was fisting. "Yes, the contract we put a stop to. Together."

I shook my head to mentally wake up. "No, Ion. There's a second one." His brow furrowed and he squeezed my hand.

"Will you tell me about it? What you can remember?" He could see I was having trouble with it but still encouraged me with his kindness. Who is Ion Sinn anyway? Pain tore through me again and I winced.

I felt a warm, large hand on my shoulder. "Maybe we should stop for now." He reassured me.

"No." I could feel the pain ebbing away. "He got me to sign by threatening me with the deaths of my parents. It still needs the signature of Jonas."

Now Ion was frowning, the lines above the bridge of his nose deepening. "Do you remember any of it, what it said?" He'd started to grip hard on my shoulder but let go completely. "I'm sorry. It's just that if this contract is what I think it is, we could have more trouble on our hands." I could tell he was worried. Not for himself or his brother, but for me.

Closing my eyes I tried to remember what I had seen. It was all so vague. But slowly the image of the contract sharpened. "The contract would be binding according to the laws of vampires... It uh... It states that Jonas is to transfer ownership of me, marriage or not." My heartbeat accelerated as the image cleared more. Sucking in my breath, I looked Ion in the eyes. "I would be Karrack's slave! Oh God, what is happening!" The lavender light flared up from my healing wounds, almost blinding us both. Within minutes, my wounds were completely healed and the light faded away. I tried moving, and there was no pain. My eyes shot up to Ion's and he nodded.
