Back in the city

"Oh! What a cute dog!" I exclaimed. It was a Siberian husky. It had black fur and big blue eyes. It grinned and leapt towards me. I sat down and patted its head. It was a female husky. I played with it for a while. All of a sudden, it started growling at me. It bit off my hand. I panicked. Blood surged out of my severed arm. I ran in despair. The Siberian husky got bigger. His face looked more vicious. He turned into a timber wolf. He was chasing me. I ran as fast as I could. I wasn't fast enough, the wolf outruns me. It pinned me down on the ground and devoured my body slowly. I was lying there in agony. I saw myself getting eaten by a wolf. I screamed. I opened my eyes and found myself on my bed sleeping next to a wolf. My heartbeat was racing. I looked at my watch. It was at 6 am. I turned around to see the wolf turn into a girl. She was Accalia. I have almost forgotten that I am sharing my apartment with a werewolf now. Alpha, the werewolves' chief, offered me a bigger apartment. I refused to take anything from him. I have a big ego, I would live in a small apartment with my own money rather than getting a bungalow for free.
"Morning," said Accalia while yawning. She was wearing a loose shirt. She asked me if I was alright. I did not want to alarm her. I let her be unaware of my nightmare. It was a workday. I hate Mondays. If it was in my hands, I would have stopped the world on Sundays. I wanted to sleep more but I was wide awake. I started my morning routine. After a warm shower, I dressed up for work. I asked Accalia to take shower as well. It was 8 a.m. I leave for work in an hour. I cooked breakfast for both. We ate breakfast together. I was about to leave but Accalia stopped me. "Where are you going?" She asked. I answered that I have work to do. I asked her to stay in the apartment. She didn't know her way around the city. She might get lost or encounter some trouble. She got sad but she agreed. I know, she wanted to go hunting but that's not possible. My apartment was far away from the forest. The city was more dangerous for her. She was unfamiliar with the city lifestyle. It was time for my departure. I rushed to work. It's a 9-5 job. I was yelled at by my boss for being late. I worked hard. I had several projects waiting for me. I had to cover-up for the month's leave. I tried my best to cover as much as I could before lunch break. It was lunch break. I ate in the canteen. I realized that I didn't cook lunch for Accalia. She must be starved. I couldn't focus on my work. I was waiting for the small hand of the clock to get to 5. My day felt longer. I was getting smashed under the weight of guilt. As soon as my shift got over, I rushed to my apartment. I opened the door only to find Accalia chewing newspaper. It was cute to see her doing that. "That's not something to eat!" I exclaimed. I snatched the newspaper away. "I know but I'm hungry," Accalia replied. I gave her some snacks while apologizing to her for not making lunch. I told her that I will cook lunch for her starting tomorrow. She nodded and munched on her snacks. I should teach her to cook. It will be better for her.
That night, I asked her to help me cook dinner. I gave her a slightly dulled knife. She never cooked before. I taught her how to chop Vegetables. We cooked dinner together. This is something her mother should have taught her. But her parents were disappointed in her. They never tried to teach her anything and when they did, they expected her to learn it three times faster. She learns fast but she's not a computer. If she had been treated like a normal person, I am sure she would have become alpha by now. After dinner, I talked to her about my hectic day. I had to complete several documents. Accalia told me that her day was boring. She could not do much her whole day. Her energy was piling up. A werewolf needs to work out daily to spend the excess amount of energy otherwise they become explosives. At the village, she was hunting. Before that, her parents gave her a treadmill to run on when she needed to vent her energy. I could have taken her to the gym but it was too late. I took her to the park close to the apartment. There was a giant hamster wheel. She got on the wheel. She looked very happy while running on the wheel. After running for a decent two hours, we got back to my apartment. I was tired. She still had energy left in her. I prepared the bed for her and slept on the couch.
The next day I cooked lunch and breakfast for Accalia and left for work. She stayed at home for the whole day. I spent my day at work. She waited for me the whole day. After a little chat with her last night, she understands why she needs to stay home. She hated staying at home for the entire day but we don't have a choice. I am planning on getting a bigger house where she can be more active. But that has to wait till I get a promotion. After coming back from work, I took her to a public gym. There are no trainers in the public gym, you have to learn how to use some machines yourself. Accalia was a little flustered with so many people around. She held my hand tightly. I patted her head. "It's okay. Nobody knows us here. There is no need to pay attention to others," I said. Accalia looked at me. She was nervous. I can only imagine what she must feel because of this. The fear of the crowd is termed Anthropophobia. It could be Agoraphobia as well. Fear of getting in a situation with no way out. I showed her some equipment she can work out on. She was nervous to use it around people but once she started exercising and got into her zone, she was calmer. She stuck to using a treadmill because she is more familiar with it. She spent some time on the machines. She was drenched in sweat. I would have taken her to a sauna but the public gym doesn't have one. Private saunas are very expensive. I have been saving money to buy an apartment and now I have more reasons for saving. I was hesitant to take her there. Maybe, I should have taken the offer of the bigger house from the chief.
We got back to my apartment. I asked her to take a shower first. She spent some time under the water. She looked refreshed after the shower. I went into the bathroom after her. There was a little fur in the shower. She was grooming herself in the shower. I ignored it. I took a shower after her. We cooked dinner together. She sharpened her cutting skills more. I taught her how to cut certain vegetables in different ways. I learned cutting skills from youtube. I passed down that information to her. We ate dinner together and went to sleep. I was sleeping on the couch and she was sleeping on the bed. We spent the rest of the week the same way. The gym seemed like a good way to vent her energy. She was spending three hours in the gym every day. It was the weekend. I took Accalia to the mall. I wanted to get her a learner knife, an apron, and a tracksuit for the gym. Accalia was interested in the food stalls only. "I will buy you food after we finish shopping," I said. She smiled brightly. She gets happy over any small article of food promised to her. She's innocent as a small child. I wouldn't forgive anyone who hurts her.
"Hey! You never called!" I saw a girl walking towards us. She seemed familiar but I couldn't remember her name. "Sasha," said Accalia. I whispered to Accalia asking who she was. She explained who Sasha was. She has a better memory. "You seem better," said Sasha. I apologized to Sasha for never calling and added that we were out of town. I lied that the Doctor recommended a change of weather to boost her recovery. I did not accept her to be waiting for the call. She suspected my intentions when I met her for the first time. She must have been worried about Accalia. She asked Accalia what she was there for. Accalia was fidgeting. I kept my hand on her head, trying to calm her down. "A learner knife, an apron, and a tracksuit," said Accalia. I patted her head. "That's right! I am proud of you!" I said to Accalia. It was obvious that she would remember them, but answering in front of someone with social anxiety is tough for her. Even though she knows the answer, she can't bring the courage up to say it. I am glad she was able to calm her nerves down and answer. Accalia told her that I am teaching her to cook. Sasha didn't believe me. She had suspicion towards me. I didn't bother. Sasha helped us to find the things we need. It barely took five minutes for her to locate everything. I paid at the counter and got out of the mall. We were about to board my car when Sasha stopped us. She asked if she could hang out with us. She got off work and decided to spend time with Accalia. It was random and suspicious of her, I was not sure if I should agree or not. I could not predict what she was planning but I agreed. We three then went to a book store where I picked up a beginner recipe book. This would allow Accalia to practice during the day when I am not home. "Why not put her in a cooking class?" asked Sasha. I told her that she has social anxiety ever since she lost her memories. She did not notice that Accalia was nervous around her. She was holding onto the corner of my shirt. We got out of the bookstore. I saw a police vehicle blocking the way out. A police officer pointed his gun at me. "Freeze!" He ordered. I stood there with my hands in the air. Accalia hid behind me. "I did not do anything!" I exclaimed. "We'll see that in court," said the officer. He put me in his car. They assured Accalia of her safety and thanked Sasha. Sasha called the police on me because I seemed suspicious. My unavailability in the city increased their doubts about me. I was charged with the kidnapping of Accalia. Accalia was scared. She couldn't say anything to clear my name. I smiled at her. I didn't want her to panic. "Everything will be fine," I told Accalia and smiled once again. I was taken to the police station. They recorded my details and filed the case. I was taken to the court after that. Accalia was there with Sasha. Accalia was crying, Sasha was trying to comfort her. A snake, she turned out to be. I could see Accalia resisting touch from Sasha. She understood that it was all Sasha's fault. I was brought in front of the judge. He asked me about my connections with Accalia. Accalia leapt towards me as soon as she saw me. She hugged me in front of everyone. I patted her head and asked her to take her seat. She shook her head. "I will be with you," she said. It seemed pointless to argue with her over that. She must have been very worried. I explained to the judge that Accalia is my girlfriend and she lost her memories in an accident. Judge asked Accalia to get in the witness box. She walked in it. I could see her nervousness. She was asked if what I was saying what true. Accalia was trying her best to speak. She was fidgeting from head to toe. Tears roll out of her eyes. She was crying over the inability of speaking. "He's....he's taking care of me.... when everyone rejected me!" She said stuttering a bit. She fell and started crying. I wanted to rush over to her but the police don't allow convicts to get close to a witness. "It's fine. You did a great job! I am proud," I told Accalia. I wanted to calm her down. She looked at me. "It's fine. Everything will be fine. Take a deep breath," I said. Accalia tried to calm herself down. Upon seeing everything the judge gave his verdict. He declared me not guilty.
I got out of the court. Accalia jumped onto me and hugged me tightly. I rubbed her head. "You did a good job," I said. She shook her head. "I cried. I could have stopped the police from taking you," she reasoned. I patted her head. I told her that everything was fine. Sasha kneeled in front of me. "I am sorry!" she said. Accalia growled at her. "It's okay. You had a misunderstanding," I said. Accalia was mad at her, but I understand Sasha. She was worried about her. I forgave her. Being taken to the court might risk my job. I hope the words didn't get out. She kept apologizing to me several times. I told her that it was fine. "Who wants to grab some food?" I asked. Sasha asked us to join her for dinner. She wanted to treat us as an apology. She suggested a new restaurant which had opened close to her house. I denied it. I didn't trust her. That place was far from my apartment as well. I suggested a place in the market. She was reluctant but agreed. We went to a famous multi-cuisine restaurant in the market. I ordered beef bhuna for Accalia and Chicken noodle soup for myself. Sasha didn't order anything. She tried to explain to us why she did it. Her sister was kidnapped by a group of men. They molested her and killed her. Her body was found a month later. According to the police report, they forced her into slavery at gunpoint. When they got bored with her, they killed her body and threw her in the lake. Sasha started crying while telling us about her sister. She saw that Accalia was nervous around me. She jumped to the conclusions. She called the police right after I left the mall. After a week, the police found my abandoned car near a forest which increased their suspicion. And because I was nowhere to be found in the city, they were convinced that I am one of the human traffickers. "It's okay. I understand. Misunderstanding happens," I said. "Why did you abandon your car?", Sasha asked. She must have noted my car number. Her confidence confirms it. "It broke down there when I was going out of town with Accalia. I thought I would repair it after I came back and left it there," I answered. Sasha seemed disappointed in me. "Irresponsible," she murmured. Accalia enjoyed her meal to the fullest. She was happy. "Want some ice cream?" I asked Accalia. She smiled brightly and nodded excitedly. Accalia likes everything when it comes to food. I love her innocence. I ordered a chocolate cone for her. Sasha paid the bill. Accalia was enjoying her ice cream. We part our ways with Sasha there. Accalia and I came back to the apartment. "I am sorry Accalia," I said. She was confused. "Why?" She asked. I explained my reasons. Because of me, she had to spend her whole day around Sasha. The encounter with the police must also have been scary for her. If I have been more careful, it wouldn't have happened. "It's okay. I was at fault too," said Accalia. I asked her to freshen up while I keep the things at their places. I will teach her how to use an electric burner tomorrow. Electric stoves are safer as there is no open fire in the house. It saves gas tax as well. Accalia came out of the shower. She was calm. I entered the shower after her. It smelled nice. She must have used shampoo. There was fur in the bathtub. "Accalia!" I shouted. I scared her with my loud voice. She opened the bathroom door. Thanks to god, I was wearing my pants. "Why's there fur in the bathtub?" I asked. Accalia was nervous. My loud voice must have triggered her anxiety. "I am sorry...." she sobbed. "It's okay Accalia. Just flush the fur after you bath," I advised. She nodded. She told me that while bathing, she turned into a wolf to clean her fur. I apologized to her for raising my voice. I closed the door and finished my shower. I came out to see Accalia sitting under the dining table in her wolf form. Her anxiety didn't calm down. I sat down and rubbed her head. "I am sorry. It wasn't your fault," I said. She wasn't calming down. I patted her head and went under the table. I hugged her and apologized. "it's okay," she said. Slowly turning back into human form. She kept hugging me. We came out of the table. We watched a movie together. Van Helsing, a movie based on monsters. In the movie, a legendary monster hunter is sent to Transylvania to prevent Count Dracula, a terrorizing being, from realizing his evil motives. Accalia didn't like the movie though she enjoyed watching it. We went to sleep after that.
