Chapter one: The journey begins

we all weave a web of lies. some lies are woven to protect those we love, others to protects ourselves. but no matter why you lie, it always grows into an undistinguishable ball of deception that traps you, encasing you in its toxic resulting emotions. either way, the lies you tell drag you down, forcing you into the downward spiral that she had been in since her childhood. Erin Lindsay, that was her name. a pretty name for a pretty face, and yet, on the inside, she was broken. nobody could see through her wall of defences, none brave enough to ponder the darkness radiating from within her, all to afraid of the outcome and monster their queries could unleash. that was before she met the best person she has ever known, before she met jay.

it was clear from their first meeting that her mysteriously dark past wasnt the only thing of curiosity about the partners, for she could see that somewhere deep within him, Jay Halstead had something dark, formed of pure and utter rage, thriving deep within him, and no one else could relate to his darkness enough to see it, until her.

heart racing, thoughts running, breath escaping, she awoke. another nightmare she had faced in the dark, all alone. she had run from the one-person who she trusted enough to call home. another breath, another lie, another day, all pushing her further into the cavern of eternal darkness, the heaviness of her sins weighing greatly on her chest as she struggled to crawl towards the possibility of light at the end of the tunnel, though it never came.

She slowly stood to her feet, pacing her way slowly to the bathroom and reaching for a bottle of aspirin, she swallowed two of the small pills before placing a hand to her aching mind and sighing, she had done it again, got drunk again, got high again, she couldn't escape. It was like some kind of god-like force was pushing her to her old habits, forcing her to accept that this was her life now and to just move on. She worked at a coffee shop now, since she had been fired from the FBI things had been especially difficult in terms of finance. She no longer had something to get her out of bed in the morning, she no longer had Halstead.

She slowly made her way to the kitchen-Livingroom, and brewed herself a black coffee, taking a brief moment to inspect the black mould creeping down the corners of her run-down apartment. It was the only thing she could afford on her salary. Why did she have to do this to herself?! She had been given an opportunity to change her life for the better, and yet she pushed that help away, turning back to her old ways within a mere week of moving to new-York. It was his fault. She blamed him. He was the one person to ever show her kindness and love, and then he left, she felt like she had been made a fool of. She felt like their unbreakable love had been but a deception, a distraction to keep her from realising the truth, that she was depending on someone, trusting someone again. But she couldn't help herself, and now, now she was here, and he was back in Chicago.

She felt lost all again, felt the pain of heartbreak all over again. Every day was torture. She forced herself back into drugs, made herself drink away her sorrows despite knowing better. But all she wanted was for the pain to go away, it was like she had an unquenchable thirst, the darkness could never be filled, because she was alone. Constant lies, constantly telling people she was ok, when in reality, she was broken a long time ago, it was killing her. It was as if every lie squeezed the air from her lungs and forced her to become ever-more dependent of the unhealthy habits she once more embraced. But this was her life now, and she must come to accept that, or she could leave, and really, in her eyes, that was her only choice. Little did she know that a lonely detective was missing her back in Chicago, readying himself to find her and save her once more.

Chapter two: I have faith in you

Wounds heal at different rates, some scars never heal at all, the overwhelming pain radiating from within being all too much to bear. In jay halstead's mind, his scars would never heal, at least, not the ones she left behind. Erin Lindsay was her name, and though only 3 months had gone by since her departure, he could still feel the same familiar cries of sorrow echoing throughout his very being each time he heard her name, or stared upon the face of his new partner, Hailey Upton. dont think wrong of her though, Hailey truly is a kind person, but he can't help the feeling of pain and betrayal that overwhelms him each time the thought of her crosses his mind. Somewhere, deep within him, jay knew that his scars would heal, and yet she would always be there in his heart and in his dreams, no matter how long was to pass.
