Chapter 16

Ember's POV

As I began to wake up my head was throbbing and my body ached. It was cold and was struggling to open my eyes. It felt like I was lying on a concrete floor. When I opened my eyes I saw I was right. There was a florescent light on the ceiling. There were no windows or any furniture in the room, though I did notice some chains hanging on the walls. I was slowly able to drag myself over to the wall and sit up against it.

How did I get here? Who brought me here? Then it all came crashing back to me and I sucked in a deep breath. I was at the grocery store and someone had grabbed me. Blade and Crow were dead. Tears began to streak down my face. I cannot believe they are dead. They're dead because they tried to help me. I curled up into a ball as I continued to quietly cry.

It felt like it had been hours of me lying there in a ball on the concrete floor. My tears had run out long ago and I just stared off into the space of the room.

I heard someone's footsteps walking up to the door. The person then began to unlock the door and slammed the door open.

There at the door stood Butch, "Awe hello Little Flame, are you ready to have some fun?" The sadistic smile on his face as he asked that chilled me to my core. I do not think I'm going to survive this.

Hawk's POV

Doc ran up to Blade to check him out, but Blade held up his hand. "Bullet just grazed the side of my head I had fallen backwards and hit my head on my truck and it must have knocked me out for a few minutes because when I came to they were gone."

I addressed the men "Alright you men heard him. The Devil's Runners have just declared war by killing our prospect and taking Flame. You have 30 minutes to gear up and then be in Church." Then I turned to Buster who still had a tight hold on Cherry, "Take her down to one of the cells, I'll be down there in a few minutes. We need to get some answer form her." Buster nodded to me and searched the room for Gage. Gage had a passed out Cass in his arms, "Take her up to your room and lock her in." Gage nodded and moved towards the stairs. "Blade, let Doc stop the bleeding then you can join me downstairs. Screw you come with me right now." Blade reluctantly allowed Doc to work on him he was stubborn but he would never disobey a direct order from me. I could see it in his eyes though that he was ready to kill somebody.

I began walking towards the basement door with Screw falling in step beside me. We are going to have to move quickly, I promised my Little Flame that I would protect her. I've already failed her by letting them take her. I needed to get her back before the DR's could do too much damage. I shook my head of these thoughts because right now I need to focus. We needed answers and no matter what Cherry is going to give them to us.

I walked up to the door I knew Cherry was behind. I stilled myself and put on a blank expression before turning the knob and entering the room.

Buster had already tied Cherry to a chair in the middle of the room. "Hawk Baby, come on I did this for us. That Bitch had blinded you. I'm who you want. I'm going to be your old lady."

I walked up to her and slapped her across the face. I have never raised my hand to a woman before but right now I didn't see a woman I saw a traitor that was standing between me and my Little Flame. "Ember is not a Bitch you are. You betrayed this club. With or without Flame here you were never going to be my old lady. Nobody would choose a slut for an old lady." I spit at her.

Cherry's eyes hardened, "You betrayed me with her first!" This woman was truly delusional.

I heard the door open and turned to see Blade walked in with a bandage on his head. He went to the corner where he would always stand and wait. Usually he had a blank face on not showing any emotion as he stood there but today he was staring down at Cherry with pure loathing on his face.

"Cherry you need to tell us what you told the DR's about Ember." I calmly told her.

"I'm not telling you anything. They're going to wreck that fat whore and there won't..." She was cut off by Blade putting his hand around her throat. I didn't even see him move until he already had his hands around her throat.

Blade began to speak to her in a deadly quiet tone his face only an inch away from hers, "You do not speak about her that way. You either start telling us what we want to know or I starting taking off your fingers one by one, then I'll move on to breaking each of your toes, before I start to..." during his speech Cherry had peed herself and the room now reeked of urine.

I had finally snapped out of my daze and stepped forward to pull Blade off of her, "Enough!" I shouted.

Blade let her go and returned to his normal spot his shoulders were moving up and down from how heavy he was breathing. Christ, he really was losing it over this.

Cherry was sputtering trying to suck in air, "Alright, Alright I'll tell you what you want to know. Just keep that animal away from me" Her face was now pale.

I nodded to her for her to begin.

"As soon as she showed up you were so absorbed by her and I needed to get her away from you so you could see that it was me you wanted all along." She took a deep breath, "So I contacted a DR that I knew who put me in touch with Butch. Butch asked me a lot of questions about both her and Cass. Was anyone in the club giving them attention? Where were they from? How was the club reacting to them? And so on. I let him know about the bonfire, that's why they knew we were outside and to attack then. He had told me to watch and listen for when she would be alone or at least off the compound and easier to grab. They wanted both of them though but I didn't care about Cass like I did her. So when I heard you two arguing about her going to the grocery store I knew you would cave and let her go. She makes you weak. She makes this whole club weak. She was making all you men go soft. So I let Butch know and he set up for some of his men to go there, grab her, and kill whoever was with her." Cherry almost seemed pleased with herself as she recounted what had happened.

I shook my head, "Ember doesn't make me weak or this club weak. She ignited a flame in all of us. She made each of us better. You were just jealous. Now what was Butch's plan for after they got Ember?"

Cherry laughed at my question, "You think Butch would tell me that? I gave him information not the other way around." So her usefulness had run its course. I nodded to Blade and turned to leave the room. "Wait!" She shouted at me. Instead of turning back around I continued walking right out the door. When I made it to the base of the stairs I heard the gunshot.
