With the arriving ninja

By the time the others showed up to the museum they found Kai was not cleaning and was staring at a giant statue of a snake oddly.

"Hey Kai you alright?" Lloyd asks worried. Kai looks at Lloyd and just shrugs. "Nah dozed off I guess," Kai said waving it off and getting back to the cleaning with the others. The others were kind of worried about Kai, but did not want to cause him any more stress than he needed so they did their work cleaning the museum.

As Nya cleaned she came across a portrait of her parents and looks at it for awhile. The broom she was holding started to splinter and crack under her grip as anger swept through her body at the painting. Ever since she could remember she had grown to resent her parents so much. She blamed them for every wrong thing that has happened in Kai's life and her's too, but mostly Kai's.

Nya hated how her parents had just left them high and dry with nothing. Nya remembered how she and Kai looked out the window for years waiting for there parents to come home to come back, and they never did. Her brother was so broken when they just vanished. He did not deserve to have everything just dumped on him. Even after Nya gave up hope she would still catch him staring off into the distance like his parents were coming back just in that next second.

She never had the heart to tell him it was never going to happen. After the incident with Morro the first time Kai had started staring at the window again all day without moving and Nya constantly had to shake him to make sure he was actually breathing. He would not move from the window all day and Nya swears to this day she would hear him mutter under his breath.

"They will help, they won't abandon us, they will heal me. They have too,"

Then there were nights she heard him crying to their parents in his sleep and walk into breakfast with red puffy swollen eyes to show proof of his crying. The worst part?

He forgot about Nya. He just never talked to her only looking out the window. It was a dark time in Nya's life when she had truly realized how much Kai had done for her. Now whenever Kai is reminded of their parents he wallows in pity and is ashamed. She hates that her parents did this to them to him. If they ever show up she does not care why they left she is going to strangle them for abandoning them.

"What did that broom do to you?"

Nya was snapped from her angry thoughts and looked behind her seeing Jay there with a small joking smirk on his face. She looked at the broom in her hands and saw it was almost broken in half. "Just," she sighed angrily looking at the painting of her parents with disgust. Jay realized what was wrong and gave her a gently hug. "Hey it's fine. I'm sure they will come back soon," Jay said helpfully. Nya gripped the already splintering old broom tighter. "That's the problem," Nya growls glaring at the painting of her parents confusing the blue ninja.

"I don't understand," Jay said slowly. Nya looked over his shoulder to see Kai go to a different hall to clean with the others and sighed angrily. "I don't want them to come back. I don't care why they leaved whether the reason was for us or for themselves. The day they left Kai was broken. If they had never up and abandoned us Kai wouldn't be like this my brother wouldn't be suffering my brother would still be happy and not afraid of anything," tears welled in the poor girls heart. "Now he won't even look at people with green eyes. He nearly hurt Cole yesterday because he wasn't wearing deep stone," Nya said tears running down her cheeks.

It was true. Kai insisted everyone wore deep stone bracelets all the time and everyone easily agreed since it was fair and they promised to wear them all the time. Well Cole had taken them off after training to take a shower and since there was water so even if a ghost showed up he would be fine so no need for a freak out. Well after the shower he forgot to put them on and when he passed Kai in the hallway on his phone it did not end well. Of course the fire elemental was still paranoid over Morro possibly being around after the day of the departed and the still skittish red ninja saw Cole did not have the bracelet on he panicked. And what made it worse since Cole has natural forest green eyes Kai saw the fact his eyes were green and forgetting they were usually like that Kai had grabbed the earth master by the neck, started yelling threats at him, and nearly burned his skin off if Cole hadn't reacted on instinct and kicked him hard enough that he flew into the next wall knocking him out cold. It was probably for the best since Kai did manage to give Cole some minor burns on his neck and when he was choking him and when the others showed up to see what had happened Cole was freaking out because with his new found upgrade on his strength he had zero clue how hard he had hit Kai and that he was fatally injured especially since he had knocked him into the wall leaving a good sized dent. Nya, Zane, and Lloyd took the unconscious Kai to the infirmary after Nya doused Cole, as a punishment and to be sure, just in case, while Jay and Wu asked and questioned Cole on what happened who was mostly a stuttering mess, but they got the picture. When Kai had woken up he started yelling loudly about how he demanded them to get away demanded him get away.

Lloyd and Nya had to spend ten minutes calming him down and when he realized what had actually happened he got really upset and apologized to Cole a lot while said earth ninja did the same thing ten fold for not wearing the bracelets like he promised and for hurting Kai with a surprisingly minor sore back and shoulder. It was only minor since Kai was still wearing the training armour when it happened so it absorbed most of the impact. Either way both felt very guilty for it and both actually asked Sensei Wu and Garmadon for a punishment. The sensei's just gave Cole a simple cleaning duty since he was already feeling really guilty for it so they did not see the need to punish him further. While they needed to explain to Kai it was not his fault, but since Kai actually did give Cole minor small burns the red ninja refused to not be punished and tried to do that by not eating dinner. It took a long conversation from Cole and the earth ninja even offered to wear contacts if it made Kai feel safer, even if it was denied by said spiky haired brunette.

Kai was a mess and he was trying for the sake of everyone to be better, but he still didn't know how too. He's gone as far to try and find memory erasing tea and broke down in a angry rant when the sensei's said there was no such thing. It was a lie, but memory loss tea could erase all of someone's memories without a chance of ever getting them back. If it was just the memories of Morro sure, but his entire life? They just could not do that.

Nya cries as she remembers it all and into Jay's shoulder. "He wants to be like before. He thinks if mom and dad came back then it would fix him, but I swear on my life I will never forgive them for letting this happen," Nya growls angrily looking at the portrait of her stupid smiling parents finally breaking the broom in two.

Jay could only give her comfort hugs and listen to her. "He still has us and we will help him put the pieces back together," Jay promises her. "But the pieces are too broken to put together," Nya said. "From mechanic to mechanic. A machine is never broken beyond repair and broken pieces are just more pieces to put back together. I promise Nya no matter how many pieces there are we will all help put them back together," Jay promises her as she sniffs. "But what if they are missing?" She asks. "Then we find them because ninja never quit," Jay said supportively and Nya hugs her boyfriend kissing his cheek.

"Thanks babe," she said. "Your welcome now want some of Sanders drink?" Jay asks holding said cup up. Nya shrugs and had some before spitting it out and wiping her tongue. Jay laughs and Nya sprayed him with water.

Now With The Ghost in the sewers

Once Morro had made the deals with Ray and Maya he left them to their work with a giddy smile on his face. His parents are such idiots. He is clearly from the cursed realm and only evil ghosts go there, but they are so desperate to see their precious children that they were willing to accept a deal that got Morro full assurance he got to keep his obsession while making sure Krux and his soon to be arriving brother didn't mess anything up. Morro was not stupid on Krux's true plans. He did not just plan to kill the elemental masters present at the battle between him, Acronix, Garmadon, and Wu he planned to get rid of all elemental masters besides himself and his twin brother. That included Morro himself and Ray and Maya which meant no cutie. He could travel back and try to do a better job at keeping Kai under his thumb like Krux thinks he wants out of this, but that Nya girl was stubborn and no matter how much wind Morro made Kai's flame was too stubborn to go out so it would just end retentively the same.

He could kill the green ninja, but Morro did not need some unforeseen consequence from that along with killing any of the other ninjas. He did consider going to Nadakhan, but that was part of plan B or if Morro just got really desperate.

He honestly had no interest in the time thing what he wanted was the vermillion army. With the army he could rule Ninjago and with the hive mind there would be no stupid soldiers with individual traits getting in the way. He will need to convince the three leaders though to be on his side so that is a little complicated, but who cares? If those generals know who is in charge then they will follow him.

The fact the parents are convinced that the green ninja is hurting their son makes it all that sweeter because when they eventually meet the green ninja they won't even give their children a chance to explain because they will be taking it all out on Lloyd from all the years missing their children. If Morro's lucky they will kill him slowly and painfully while the ghost gets away with Kai.

How poetic that after everything it will be the parents of who he was trying to protect to kill him. Kai will finally be broken enough that he won't care what the dead wind elemental will do to him.

Morro let out a laugh as he walked back to the museum under the tunnels of the city. This was turning out so much better than he had ever expected.
