A hard back deep green book catches her eyes and she takes it down, opening it very carefully.
Her eyes skim over unusual words as she reads over the crumpled pages...
...."second Congo war, violent earthquake in India, human genome project, 9/11 terror attack, Fifa world cup, 2010 winter Olympics, Grenfell tower fire, coronavirus pandemic, new Pagani Huayra, NASA's Mars program..."
She then takes down an encyclopaedia of the 20th century, searching for world wars.
Slowly deciphering the words, of the almost faded pages, she reads...
..."Boxer rebellion, Mexican revolution, Armenian genocide, Irish independence war, Chinese Civil war, Persian Gulf war..."
Katie searches every book and scroll she could find, but something seems off.
There's no mention of World War I or World War II and Hitler's name has completely vanished.
Her mind went back to the news on the train, as she wonders, "Am I the only one who thought it was odd for a news report on "Hitler's invasion?"
It has been almost two centuries since the wars.
