After that little "show" that happened in the cafeteria, I went into my office again frantically looking for the answer. Now that we know what's wrong with him maybe we can do some reverse engineering or something. SOMETHING.
8 hours. I think it's been 8 hours since we found out what Lee has been doing the past two months. 8 hours since my world collapsed. 8 hours since we had a lead. But now since he wont be doing it anymore there are three questions.
1. Who is giving Lee this chemical
2. Will Todd get better
3.How do we fix it
We don't have the answer for any of these. I got so desperate as to find out where Lee was getting the chemicals I suggested putting him through the Asking. But Bradley, being a humanitarian, said that wouldn't solve anything and for all we know start another war, because we have a history of starting wars, us Prentisstown men. I go back to the computer, which by the way took me 2 days to figure out how to use, there are only so many computers, and theyre fairly new. I ask and ask and ask other scientists meanwhile my Noise is reeling with anger, confusion, despair, and loneliness. I mean, I have Viola but I need my son. And if they won't put him through the Asking, that means I'll have to, and if that means killing Lee...
