LEES POV

Every worst possible scenario you can think of, has happened to me in the past 3 months. First, I get put on the "never talk to again" list for Viola, which is worse than getting friendzoned, someone is giving me chemicals and drugs to delay Todd's arrival, I got whacked on the head by what I think was a wooden plank, I got interrogated by some random person asking me where I got the chemicals from, and on top of all of this IM BLIND!

Out of all of these, I think the interrogation part was the worst one out of all of them. It's something that the Mayor/President used to do, they called it the Asking. My arms were tied up behind me, and I was repeatedly dunked into a pool of water. I don't know who did it because The Man's Noise was fuzzy and grey and unreadable, like they've had practice. They kept asking me where I got the chemicals from, and I kept telling the truth and saying I don't know. Obsiously they didn't beleive me because "if I kept putting into Todd's tank, I obviously knew what I was doing." Thats what they said every time I told the truth. After what seemed like ages, they let me go, and said This isn't over. They told me not to tell anyone about this.

It was kinda hard considering i have a bulging bump on my head from where he hit me, so every time someone asked me what happened I had to come up with something. The thing is, I got hit so hard, I always forget what my initial go-to excuse was, so I always had a different one. Falling down the stairs, slipping in the hallway, getting beat up by some random soldiers from the bar, etc. Everyone I've lied to has beleived it so far.

As I'm in my room, I keep thinking about this Havoc guy. I wonder who he is... Is it someone I know? Someone with something against Todd? Against Viola? Should I have ripped up the paper? As if on queue, I hear someone's unfamiliar Noise go, To find what happens after war, go to the old Cathedral at dawn. This is your only chance. Then it's gone. I stand up and go, "Hello? Anyone there?"  No answer. Then someone comes in. A girl. "Viola? Is that you?" Silence. Then a reply.

"Oh whoops sorry it's Jane, one of the nurses, just coming in to check in on you."

"Oh." I whisper, "Yeah ok sure." I sit down and hold out my arm which she takes for the normal blood test.

"So why'd you do it?" She asks.

Suddenly I'm at a loss for words. "Pardon me?"

"Why'd you poison Todd?"

I sit there for a minute saying not hing. "I don't know." I reply. I really don't know.

She doesn't answer, she just does the rest of her tests and gets up to leave.

But then I ask, "Jane? What time is it?" Knowing it's late.

She goes, "Couple hours 'till dawn... Why?"

"Oh no reason. Bye" I say, playing it off.

"Bye Lee." She leaves.

She leaves me wondering why I poisoned Todd in the first place. So I remember what the mysterious Noise said, I get up and walk. Walk towards the Cathedral.

(RANDOM FAN UPDATE: PATRICK NESS FAVORITED ONE OF MY TWEETS :D)

So guys, thanks for all of the reads! I'm honestly just so happy to get 100, I didn't think I'd get 10! I have a LOT planned for this series but it won't be a cliche fanfic, it'll be so... literate... that it'll seem like another book, well, I guess that's for you to decide, isn't it? THANKS FOR READING!
