Rise from the Ashes

Chapter 1: A New Flame

The weather was clear today, not a single cloud to be seen. It was a very peaceful day in Pallet Town, located within the Kanto Region. In one of the houses, you could see a Mr. Mime sweeping by the door of the house. This was the home of our very hero, Ash Ketchum.

"Ash! It's time to wake up!" Shouted a voice from downstairs. This was Delia Ketchum, Ash's mother.

......

There was not a single response. This time, the voice came back, but this time, it was louder.

"Ash! Are you awake?!"

......

Once again, not a single response of confirmation came back.

Sighing in frustration, the owner of the voice walked upstairs, into a certain room which had its door closed.

Sighing once again, she slammed the door open, while raising her voice.

"Ash Ketchum! Time to wake up!"

This caused both Ash and Pikachu to wake up and jump in surprise, the latter activating its thunderbolt out of instinct.

"AHHHHHH!!!!!"

Yes... what a "peaceful" day it was~.

After waking up the "Ash Ketchum" way, the family was having their quiet breakfast. So quiet in fact it was very unfitting of the Ketchum family.

"Sigh..." Ash Ketchum sighed for the umpteenth time.

"Ash honey, what's wrong?" Delia asked in concern.

Ash raised his head as he looked at his mother, "Hm? Well... it's nothing..."

Delia frowned, "Honey, you aren't eating any of the food. That pretty much speaks for itself. But not only that, you have been feeling down lately ever since you came back."

Ash winced. As expected, he really couldn't fool his mom. (A/N Or anyone else for that matter XD)

"Sigh... it's just... recently, about 2 weeks ago, Goh managed to catch his second legendary Pokemon." Ash spoke

Delia's eyes widened. "Oh my! That Goh sure is something! But what does that have to do with how you are feeling?"

Her face then turned into a frown, "Are you perhaps angry with him or something?"

Hearing this, Ash frantically waved his hand while shaking his head.

"No I would never! Goh is a really good friend of mine. I don't hate him at all! It's just... I was no, still am jealous of him. Despite having much less experience than me, he has caught far more Pokemon than I ever have. He even managed to catch legendary Pokemon!"

Ash's face turned sad as he continued to speak. This put a frown in both Delia and Pikachu's face.

After that, Ash quickly gulfed down his meal. He then turned to his mom and gave a smile.

"Thanks for the meal mom. I... I will go outside and get some fresh air. You know, do digest the food I ate. Yeah!"

Ash tried to act bright, but he wasn't fooling anyone. 

Pikachu was about to jump on Ash's shoulder, but Ash stopped him.

"Sorry Pikachu, but I think I want to walk alone this time."

He then left outside, leaving a worried Delia and Pikachu behind.
