It was Tuesday already and I was having to get up way too early to go to school. I dragged myself out of bed and took a quick shower. I got out and brushed my teeth then got dressed. When I got downstairs my parents were already eating their breakfast. I grabbed a bagel and ran out the door after saying bye to my parents. I hoped in my car and sped off. I wasn't going to be late or anything but I really wanted to talk to Kaylas in homeroom. Ever since Friday, I was excited to see Kaylas.
We texted a bit over the weekend and Monday since we had school off. He doesn't talk a lot but when he does I am so fascinated with everything he say's. I wonder why Kaylas is so closed off about everything. He always seems to be in the clouds. I figured out almost a year ago that I was polysexual. I've never actually had a crush on a guy but I know for a fact I like them.
I went to homeroom but sadly Kaylas wasn't there yet. It was already lunchtime and finally I spotted Kaylas with some other boy who I think I have seen around before. "Hey, Kaylas come sit over here." I yelled across the cafeteria while pointing to the seat next to me. The other boy looked at Kaylas and whispered something. It looked as though they were arguing over something but they came and sat down none the less.
"Jayden right." The boy asked. Kaylas not so subtly kicked him in the leg. "Actually it's Jaylen." I responded a bit nervous with how this guy was glaring at me. "Cool, I'm Isaac." He informed. "And I'm Evie." Evie cut in. She then elbowed Leo to say something. "What?" Leo questioned when he lifted his head from whatever book he was reading this time. "Oh, I'm Leo." He finally said. Kaylas giggled quietly and I was the only one that could hear it since I was sitting right next to him.
We spent most of our time laughing at Isaac's blunt answers whenever Evie asked a personal question. I looked over at Kaylas and he looked as if he wanted to pass out right on the table. I subtly nudged him and asked quickly, "Are you ok? You seem tired." He simply just shook his head and smiled then went back to his conversation with Leo over some book.
"So, Kaylas are you dating anyone at the moment?" Evie asked while clearly flirting. "No, and I don't plan on dating for a while." Kaylas replied with an annoyed tone. Evie visibly slumped in her seat. "Well how about you Isaac? Are you seeing anyone?" She questioned yet again. "Nope, dating's not really my scene." He answered quickly. She frowned and turned to me with an 'answer the question' look. "Well I'm single but I'm going to ask out Jocelyn, I've had a crush on her for the longest time." "Who?" Isaac and Leo asked at the same time.
"That girl with the gloves and is laughing at table four." I said pointing across the cafeteria. "Oh, that girl. Yeah, she's pretty and she's always been fairly nice to me but I heard she shoots down like every person that asks her out." Leo stated. "She's super nice. I met her last year but I have never had the confidence to go up to her and actually say anything and I definitely do not have the bravery to ask her out." I said sadly.
Since no one knew what to say and I was clearly done with this conversation Evie changed the subject after a minute of everyone sitting in an uncomfortable silence. "So, are you guys like exes or something? Or do you like, like each other? Because I am feeling a lot of sexual tension between you too right now." Evie interrogated Kaylas and Isaac. Intrigued, I directed my attention to the boys she was addressing. Isaac just scoffed. "That tension you feeling is defiantly not sexual it's because he's mad at me." Isaac informed mono-tone.
"For the last time, I am not mad at you." Kaylas stated with a scowl on his face. "Why would he be mad at you?" I joined in, directing my question towards Isaac. Kaylas then glared at Isaac clearly not wanting Isaac to tell the rest of us. Evie caught this and went back to her original statement. "So do you like each other? Or did you at some point?" Evie asked sounding almost hopeful. "No we do not, but I used to think Kaylas was hot." Isaac answered, shocking the whole table.
"Used to?" Kaylas asked Isaac. "Well I used to think if you asked me out I would say yes because you're hot and nice to most people but that was years ago and now that I have really gotten to know you and I know there's more to a relationship than looks and how you act around people I wouldn't date you." Isaac said without a care. "Ok understandable." Kaylas responded calmly. "And you're sure that you're not mad at me?" Isaac questioned.
"I am absolutely positive." Kaylas said with a cocky smile. "Ok." Isaac defeated. "Can you please eat your pasta or something?' Isaac begged Kaylas. I looked down at his plate and all of his food was still there. Now that I think about it I don't think I have ever seen Kaylas eat anything except that one time at his house when he ate cereal but even then he threw away about half of it. I'm not hungry. I'll just eat later." Kaylas mumbled while staring at his shoes. "I'll bring over French food later and we can watch movies all night." Isaac told Kaylas with a clear look of hope on his face. "Fine, but don't forget the Soup à L'oignon this time." Kaylas deadpanned. "Are you French?" Leo chimed in.
"I am fully French while Isaac has French on his mom's side and British on his dad's." Kaylas informed us. "Lucky. Us three are just boring old American's." Evie spoke. "Actually I'm part Norwegian but I don't speak a bit of the language and I definitely didn't inherit the accent." I corrected. "What? Since when were you Norwegian?" Leo asked. "Since always." I stated obviously. "Ugh, your all three lucky." Evie pouted. "We know." Isaac said bluntly while separating the tomatoes out of his salad. Evie was about to continue when she was cut off by the shirking bell signaling that it was time for next period. We all said our farewells and went our separate ways.
