It was an ungodly hour and I was still awake obsessing's over my newfound feeling for Jaylen about a week after I discovered them. I was laying in my bed counting backward from one thousand when I get a call from Isaac. I pick up and the first sound I heard was someone's soft sniffles. "Hello." I said softly into the phone. "Kaylas." Isaac stated into the phone clearly trying to sound normal and failing miserably. "Isaac, what's wrong?" I asked genuinely worried. "Can you come over?" He said in-between his quiet cries. "I'll be right there. Stay on the phone with me." I said, scared because no one has seen Isaac cry since he was two years old and if he is crying now then something must be seriously wrong.

I got to Isaac's as soon as I could and climbed into his already open bedroom window to find him sat at his bed harshly wiping away tears. "Hey, what's wrong?" I questioned him softly while gently moving his hands from his face. "Nothing, I'm just being dramatic." Isaac answered as he looked to the ground as if ashamed. "Isaac, you know you can tell me anything right?" I asked without really expecting an answer. He nodded anyway though and started crying harder. At that, I stopped talking and sat in his lap to hold him tight. He hugged me back immediately and mumbled something between tears.
"What was that?" I asked softly. He looked up at me and said "It's about Dennis." He said clearly now as he held on to me tighter as if to make sure I wouldn't leave him. Dennis was a boy in the same grade as us. We all were best friends in middle school but Dennis's parents sent him to a more prestigious high school just out of town about half an hour away and we all kind of fell out of touch. "We haven't even talked to Dennis in almost three years." I said, confused. "We ran into each other about five months ago when I was on a run near the old park and we started talking then we went back to his place." Issac told me then paused as if the memories were too painful for him to think about.
He was still crying but continued on "Basically we had sex but it wasn't just sex. We also hung out some, it was mostly just at his house but we went out to eat a few times too. I wanted to tell you but he told me not to because he didn't want anyone to know about us. We have been hooking up, I guess you could call it ever since then and we had an agreement that if we ever wanted to be with anyone else we would just break things off with each other to spare us both heartbreak." Isaac jumbled as he stopped to wipe his tears away yet again.
"I went over there without notice again tonight and when I got there he was making out with some girl named Lilly. I asked him why he didn't just tell me that he wanted to be with her instead of continuing to be with me when he already knew he had feelings for her. Basically, he said that he liked us both and this was the first time he and Lilly ever kissed and that he was going to break things off with me tomorrow." Isaac cried. "I loved him and I thought maybe he felt the same." He whispered as his tears started to slow.
This surprised me since Isaac has told me many times that he doesn't like relationships and that he doesn't understand love. "I'm sorry I called you over here. I'm just being stupid he was one boy there will probably be others." Isaac said releasing his grip on me just a little. "Babe, you don't ever have to apologize for your feelings especially not to me." I assured him as I lifted his chin with my finger so that he was looking at me. He just looked at me with the saddest eyes I have ever seen so I went on "Maybe Dennis does feel the same way but just wanted to try out whatever this is with Lilly." I tried to convince.
"Hun, I really wish that was true but I was just a few hookups and cute little dates for him. It's my own fault for getting attached when that clearly is not what he wanted. I'm just happy that he found someone that he really does like" Isaac tried to calmly say. "Maybe that's true and you were there just to have sex a few times and go get a smoothie with but that's only because he never really got to see the person you truly are. And if he really does like this Lilly girl and she likes him then I agree with you and hope that they are happy but if they end up not liking each other as much as they think then I say you go for it." I told him seriously.
"Now I'm not saying that you confess your undying love for him or anything but just tell him you like him outside of sex and would like to see where things go. But only if he and Lilly don't work cuz I don't want you to be called a homewrecker or some shit." I joked. "Shut up, you idiot." Isaac laughed as he easily picked me up and gently threw me out of his lap and onto the other side of the bed. "We should probably head to sleep now, it's like four in the morning." Isaac said through a yawn. I simply nodded my head and laid down next to him. I slept with my head on his chest as I always do and his arm draped around my waist. I have always slept better in other people's company and I slept more than I have in weeks maybe even months.

We both woke up the next day about two hours before lunch started and just decided to take our time getting ready. I ate a granola bar as I usually do and took a shower after Isaac. He still looked very upset but I could tell he was trying to seem like his normal self for my sake. I borrowed some of Isaac's clothes and just decided not to even try with my hair and just ran my hands through it. We got in the car half an hour before lunch and drove to school.
A/N: First of all thank you to whoever has actually read this far. Second of all I know Isaac and Kaylas relationship seems more than platonic right now but I swear it's not and that is just how they act. You can ship them if you want but I am warning you now that it will never turn into anything more than friendship.
