"I've decided to ask out Jocelyn tomorrow." I announced to Isaac and Kaylas. Isaac started coughing after I said that. "Are you good man?" I asked him. He just gave me a thumbs-up as an answer. "Well, I say go for it." Kaylas encouraged me. I gave him my most sincere smile. "Do you think she'll say yes?" I asked him. "I think we won't know till you try." Kaylas responded. "Yeah man, I'm sure she'll say yes, you're a catch." Isaac told me. "Thanks. Do you guys wanna come over to mine tomorrow to study?" I questioned them. "Sorry I can't. I have to watch Bella while my parents are at work." Isaac told us. "Well, I'll be there." Kaylas said.
*The next day*
I was sitting in homeroom when my phone buzzed in my hand.
Kaylas:
Hey, Bella's having a bit of a temper tantrum so I'm gonna help Isaac for a while but we can still meet up to study at your place.
Me:
Ok sounds great. Wanna meet around 4 pm?
Kaylas:
Yeah sounds good.
Kaylas:
You see what we have to deal with.
Me:
Om I could never deal with that.
Kaylas:
She's calming down now. I bribed her with cookies.
Me:
Cheater
Kaylas:
whatever works.
Me:
Alright well I'll leave you to it.
Kaylas:
Ok have a nice day and good luck with the whole Jocelyn thing, bye.
Me:
You too and thanks, bye.
*Skips to after lunch*
"Hey, Jocelyn." I said "Oh hey Jaylen. What's up?" She asked me. "Nothing really, I was just wondering what you're doing Friday night." I said with a smirk. "Um, I don't think I'm doing anything then." She told me with a smile. "Well would you like to go out with me?" I questioned her. "Like a date?" She asked. I nodded my head. "Um well I can't" She told me. "Oh well we can go another day if you want." I tried to compromise. "Ugh I mean I don't want to." She muttered. "I mean you seem nice and all just not really my type, sorry." She said. "Oh, that's fine." I mumbled sadly. She gave me a half-smile then walked away with her friends.
"Hey, how'd it go?" Evie asked when she saw me walking down the hall. "Sucky, she said I'm not her type, whatever that means." I informed her. "Oh, I'm sorry. Wanna go get Leo and ditch so that you can wallow?" She asked me. "No, I'm good. I think I'm just gonna go home for the day." I told her. "Ok well chin up Jay." She tried. I gave her a half-hearted smile then we parted ways. I didn't feel like calling my parents to pick me up or making up an excuse to leave so I just walked right out of school and went to my car. The second I got home I fell asleep and after I woke up about four hours later I began to cry.

"Jaylen are you home? It's me Kaylas." I heard down the hall. "Hey, your brother let me in." Kaylas said as he entered the room. "Are you crying?" He asked as he walked over to where I was seated in my bean bag chair. "Yeah, sorry I forgot you were coming over." I sniffled. "It's fine. Why are you crying?" He asked me softly as he wiped away my tears. "Jocelyn." Was my simple reply. "What did she do to you? Cuz I can get Evie to beat her up for you." Kaylas joked. He was still standing so I patted the space next to me, signaling for him to sit down. There was only one chair so we were really close together, with our thighs and shoulders touching.
"That's not necessary. All she said was that I wasn't her type. I'm just sad because I have been pining over this girl for a whole year if not longer and now she's rejected me." I complained as I still cried. He grabbed my face softly and looked into my eye and said, "I promise you that somebody that you like better will come along the way and you'll forget all about Jocelyn." I tried hard not to but my eyes kept looking down at his lips then back at his eyes again. I think he noticed this because he suddenly licked his lips. I leaned in a little bit and he looked like he was about to but he pulled away subtly. I also pulled away when I realized that his lips were now far from mine. "Yeah hopefully." I said in regards to his earlier comment.
Did I almost kiss Kaylas? Did he almost kiss me? "Hey, why don't you stay the night." I said hopefully. He looked up at me and I had never realized how insanely pretty this boy was before. Maybe it's just the way that he has his pink lip pulled between his teeth and the sun is shining directly on his face, making his beautiful gray eyes sparkle but he looks so unbelievably beautiful. "Do you have enough room?" He questioned me. "Yeah. You can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the floor." I said. "I'm not letting you sleep on the floor of your own room." He said with a look. "Fine, we can sleep head to feet." I compromised. He yet again nodded in response.
We sat in the same position for the next five hours watching "The end of the fucking world" which I knew was Jocelyn's favorite show but I withheld that info from the boy sitting beside me. It was now around ten pm and we just decided to skip dinner and head straight to bed. I climbed in first, then Kaylas climbed down to the other end. After laying there for about an hour I could tell that we were both wide awake. "You can climb up here." I told him. "Why?" He asked. "Um, I don't know. You don't have to I was just saying you can." I muttered.
We were both still and it was silent for about fifteen seconds and I figured he was going to stay down on his side but then I felt movement on his end and he was suddenly laying right next to me. We must have moved during the night because when we woke up the next morning my arm was around his waist and his head was on my chest but clearly neither of us mined because we laid there for a couple more hours while I traced shapes on his side where his shirt rode up about two inches while he lightly strocked my wrist.
