Things have been a bit strained between you and Zuko. After that stunt you pulled during the attack of Kyoshi Island, Zuko had you at his side at all times, leaving you with no time to your self.
This wouldn't have bothered you as much if it weren't for the fact that you could now airbend. The day you discovered your bending was the best and worst day of your life due to the fact that you were now walking on thin ice with your friend and uncle.
Knowing that you broke a trust between your friend and uncle and the fact that you are officially an airbender have brought you unnecessary stress (then again, stress should never be necessary with anything).
Zuko stopped just 3 feet away from you and looked back with his eyebrows furrowed.
"(Y/n), why did you stop?" He asked with a hint of annoyance.
You looked up at Zuko before immediately looking down.
"Just thinking..."
Zuko turned his body, having his shoulder face you before tilting his head a bit.
"You can think while walking. We're not going to stand in the middle of the hallway." He stated.
You made your way to him before he started walking yet again. You gave Zuko the side-eye, wondering if you should say anything before deciding to finally speak.
"Zuko."
"Hm."
"I-I'm sorry."Only footsteps were filling in the silence of the hallway before Zuko finally spoke.
"Sorry doesn't change what you did, (y/n)."
"I-"
"I trusted you to stay on the ship and listen, but you keep putting yourself in danger. I'm shocked you haven't died yet." Zuko interrupted, getting a more aggressive tone. You immediately regret bringing up the subject, knowing that once he started, he would not stop.
"You nearly died that day. If Iroh didn't come in time to burn that girl to the ground, you would have had your throat slit open. Do you have any idea how I would have felt if I lost you? How your parents would have felt if they had to bury their own child? How Iroh would feel, reliving the death of someone important to him?" Zuko said, almost tearfully.
You weren't dead, you haven't even been hurt and yet your best friend was about to cry as though he lost you. Many thoughts ran through your mind, like the thought of what happened that day.
'Zuko said that uncle Iroh fought off that girl when I was the one who-'
It then hit you.
Iroh saw you airbend. He saw you airbend and yet he lied to Zuko. Why did he?
'I have to talk to him.' You finally decided. You looked at Zuko's legs and spoke.
"I want to speak to uncle Iroh." You stated.
Zuko looked at you with surprise before his face twisted into a nasty scowl.
"After all I said, you- I-" he threw his hands up while letting out a loud growl.
"Fine! Whatever! I'll take you there." He said, stomping away from you.
You found yourself alone with uncle Iroh, who was currently taking a sip of his tea. He placed it down with his eyes closed before speaking.
"You wanted to see me, (y/n)?" He said, as if expecting you to speak.
"You saw me airbend." You said bluntly.
It wasn't a question. It was a statement. A statement that took Iroh off guard.
His shocked expression made you regret saying that out loud, making you believe that you were wrong about him knowing until he stood up and spoke.
