Another Hole Dug

I woke up to the horrible sound of a tune for the second time. I've only been here for a short while and It's already getting to me. I heard Squid wake up everyone as I got up myself. I put on a black tank top, my orange jumpsuit, my boots, brushed my hair, put on my bandana and waited outside for all of them. We all walked in a group again and just like yesterday, they were all slouching. I still stood with my head held high and I turned to look at whoever was on my right side. It turned out to be Squid who looked back at me and raised an eyebrow. Every time he did that look to me I got a funny feeling in my stomach. It was almost like he gave me butterflies. I shook off the feeling and looked away from him. I noticed that Caveman was staring at me again because when I looked back, his eyes were all I saw. I quickly turned forward again and decided to keep looking that way. We soon made our way to the 'Library' and waited in line. Luckily, X-ray didn't take my shovel this time and I grabbed a honey-tortilla for breakfast. They aren't as bad as you think they would be. They aren't too sweet but not to bland either, it's like the perfect blend of flavours.

We followed Mr. Sir to where we would dig that day and I got started straight away. I didn't want to be in the heat all day so I worked faster and harder than I did yesterday. The sun soon turned up into the sky and all of us got hotter as the sun radiated its heat onto us. I soon took off the top of my jumpsuit as I did yesterday and the boys stared at me again. 'This isn't a show for you boys.' I didn't look at them but could tell that they looked away from me. "Whoa, what's with all the bruises Chase?" I heard someone say behind me, which turned out to be Zero. Everyone turned to me and looked at my arms. "Oh, I got into a fight with my younger brother and it so happened that that day he decided to be stronger than me and punch me hard with his knuckles. I fought back but it only made him punch me more. Let's just say he won that day." I told him with a smile. "He must've been punching you hard for those to still be there." Squid came into the conversation. I looked up at him. "Yeah he did. It didn't hurt too bad but stung a little." I just smiled at all of them and they all got back to work. 

Mr. Sir slowly but surely came later with the water truck and filled up all our canteens. "Got nay blisters today Andrews?" I looked up to Mr. Sir. "No Sir, just like yesterday. It doesn't hurt to dig for me." He raised his eyebrows and got back into his truck then soon drove off. I walked over back to my hole and just sat over the edge. "You know, you're pretty cool Chase." I heard someone say, who soon sat down beside me. I turned to see that it was Zig Zag. "Oh thanks. Why do you say that though?" I asked with curiosity in my voice. He looked into my hole, then up to the blue sky. "Well, you don't take shit from people for a start." I chuckled and then looked up at the sky aswell. "I've always been like that." I stopped for a second to look down into my hole. I could feel his eyes on my as I look at him aswell. "And secondly, I can tell your sarcasms great." I gave him a confused look and tilted my head to the side. "How so?" I asked him with a raised eyebrow. He looked straight forward and thought about what he was going to say. "Just by looking at your posture and the way you speak." I laughed slightly at looked at my hole. "Well, I'll take that as a compliment then. Thanks ZigZag." He looked at me and smiled. he nodded and stood up to go back to his hole. 

I soon finished and was the first one again. I didn't wait for anyone this time and I walked back to camp, feeling all they guys' eyes on me, just watching me walk. I didn't care to look at them and just continued to walk and hold my head up high. I soon got back to my tent and grabbed my clean jumpsuit. I walked over to the wardens cabin and knocked. She opened the door and smiled at me. "You must be here because of the showers, right?" I nodded at her. "Well, you can use mine for obvious reasons." I smiled and thanked her. I only had a short shower since I wasn't sure of how long I was meant to be in there for. I thanked her again once I was done and left. Shortly after, I went to the Wreck room and just sat on the couches. I looked around to see no one there and saw that there were some weights. I got up and used those for a little. Since I lifted back home, it wasn't too hard for me to do. I sat back on the couch and stared at the ceiling. Soon, the room filled with boys and I sat up, waiting for my tent to come in the room. I soon saw Squid and the rest of them come and look at me. They all waved and I waved back. They came to where I was sitting and I realised Caveman wasn't there. "Hey, where's Caveman?" "Where do you think he is?" X-Ray answered me. I realised he was still out there digging his hole and I got up. "Where you going Chase?" I turned to see X-ray looking at me and asking me the question. "Where do you think I'm going?" I glared at him to say I was going to help him. "You really gonna go help him?" Squid chimed in, looking serious. "Yeah, you got a problem with that?" I asked him without hesitation.
