New Kid

( I FORGOT TO MENTION ROBIN IS BISEXUAL IN THIS STORY... )

Once again, the dreaded sound of a bell came through the tent flaps and soon woke most of us up. Squid again woke the rest of us up and we all got ready to dig. We all soon left and just like the past days, they were all slouching. But again I had no trouble keeping my head up high, it's good for my posture anyways. I wasn't bothered to see who was walking next to me so I kept my head forward and smiled. I always try to smile, it keeps me happy. Especially in a situation where I'm stuck in a camp full of boys who haven't seen a girl in months, Smiling will help me. We soon got in line just like the past days and made our way to a new spot. Mr. Sir told us all where to dig and we got right to it. As the morning rose, so did the sun. It was hotter than usual so there wasn't going to be any questions about taking the top half of. Today I wore a black t-shirt ( as always ) with a skull on the front. Magnet saw and complimented it. I thanked him and told him that I got it on holiday somewhere. "I don't remember where, but it was this cool shop." He seemed to be listening to me, which I always appreciated from people. I don't like it when people ask you about something one minute, then don't listen when you tell them. 

We both got back to work as we knew it would only get hotter than this. I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was digging so I finished 10 minutes after that. "New Record Chase!" I heard Caveman say from his hole. He was leaning on the top of his shovel, just staring at me. He was smiling at me and I soon returned one as well. He soon returned to digging and I hopped out of my hole. I saw Zero almost done and decided to wait for him. I hadn't walked with him yet so I wanted this to be the first. He finished around 15 minutes after and must've not realised I was waiting for him. He smiled and I helped him out. We walked back and I asked why he was so quiet and didn't talk to the others much. "Well, it's because I don't like answering stupid questions. They ask me stupid shit all the time and I can't be bothered to answer back. As well as Mr. Pendanski and Mr. Sir." I chuckled a bit and saw him look up at me. He had a confused look on him as to ask 'What's funny?'.  "They ask a lot of stupid questions so I don't blame you for not wanting to answer." I looked down at him to see him chuckling with a slight smile. "See, you and Stanley are they only ones that get that." I looked at him confused. "Oh, caveman's Stanley, that's his actual name." I nodded my head to say that I got that. We both continued walking and found our way back to our tent. We both sat down on our cots and laid there in silence. It wasn't awkward, it was almost comforting.

Soon, all the boys returned and Caveman was with them for the first time. We all went to the Wreck Room and played Pool. I sat down with Zero on some chairs and watched the boys play pool. Caveman, Magnet and X-Ray were on a team and ZigZag, Squid and Armpit were on another. The game went on for about an hour before ZigZag and his team won. After they did a victory dance, it was time to go to the Mess Hall for food. We all got in line and soon sat down. They were all talking about the Pool game they just played and how it wasn't a fair play. "Hey that's not true. Ask Zero and Chase!" ZigZag pointed at me and Zero. We both looked at each other, not really knowing what to say. "So, was it a fair game?" Squid asked Zero. He didn't answer. Of course, Zero being Zero, thought this was a stupid question and didn't answer. Squid turned to me, wanting an answer. I knew my answer would piss them off, but I wanted the reaction. "No Comment." I said that with a confident smile. They all groaned with annoyance in their voices. "I'm joking, chill. It was a fair game, I didn't see any cheating or anything like that." "See!" ZigZag yelled getting the whole rooms attention. I laughed, which made them laugh as well.

Soon, we all finished eating and stepped outside. we saw a bus pull up so it must've been someone new. We all gathered around the circle that was forming. The bus stopped and we were all eager to see the new recruit. 'I wonder if the new person will be in our tent...' That's all I could think of in that moment. They stepped out and thanked the driver. I could see a guard coming our way since we were standing in front of Mr. Sir's office. I soon saw the person, which was a girl. 'Another Girl!' I thought. But I stood still as I saw how attractive she was. She had Black hair and was wearing a oversized t-shirt with black jeans. She also was tall and was wearing converse. She bumped my shoulder and said Sorry, but then stood back to wink at me. I was filled with embarrassment as I saw the boys with wide eyes. They turned to me and had a curious look on their faces. "Did she just wink at you?" Caveman asked me. "I think she did, yep." I could feel heat run across my as I realised the whole tent was looking at me. "What?" I asked with my eyebrows furrowed. "I think the new girl thinks you're cute." X-Ray stated. "I mean, I don't blame her." I heard Squid say. I turned to him, as well as they others. "What? I'm stating facts, and you all know it." He looked down at me with a smile. I walked away to go to the tent. As I was walking, Squid and Caveman caught up to me. "So, why'd you have a red face when the newbie winked at you, huh?" Caveman teased. "You're not gay, are you Chase?" Squid teased as well. "Well, I'm Bi. And I always go red when someone does something like that." "Oh really? I don't believe you Chase." Squid teased once more. "Yeah I agree, I think you got a crush on her!" Caveman butted in whist nudging my shoulder. "Ooooooo." ZigZag came up behind me and held my shoulders. I realised he must've been following me as well. "And don't worry, I'm Bi as well." I congratulated ZigZag and he did as well for me.

Soon, Everyone caught up to me and we walked in a big group. Squid and Caveman told the others I had a crush on the new girl and soon they all teased me as well. We were stopped in our tracks from Pendanski with the new girl. I went red once more just from seeing her standing in front of me. "Kids, this is Amy. She'll be in your tent." 'Yes, I get to see her often now!' I was getting exited and she must've seen. She laughed a little at my excitement and I stopped, embarrassed. She had a deep laugh, almost like the boys here. "Well, I'm glad I'll be working with you guys." She smiled warmly at us, which made my heart melt. Mr. Pendanski left her with us and we walked her to the tent. I showed her where she would be sleeping. She was going to sleep next to Zero, which got me feeling envious. She asked for our names and Caveman told her. He got around to everyone except me. He sat down next to me which got me confused. "And this is Chase. She's a great friend and she's a pretty fast digger. If you need help, just ask her." She put out her hand for me to shake, and I did confidently. 

"We wanted to ask you something Amy." Squid started to say. I knew what he was gonna ask, and I wanted to know badly. "What's your sexuality?" A look of shock came onto her face. He asked it very firmly which must've put her off a little. "Oh well, I'm Bi but I prefer Girls more." X-ray looked at me with a smirk, looking like he was going to say something bad. "Oh perfect for you Chase!" Shit, He said something bad. "He-He's joking Amy!" I looked at Amy to see her smiling and laughing. "Nah it's all good." My face went red and the tent filled with 'Ooo's' and 'Oooh's'.  It was soon time to sleep and I laid down. I heard footsteps coming towards me so I turned around, it was Amy. "Hey, um, I was wondering. Well, since you're a fast digger I was wondering if you would help me tomorrow?" She whispered to the point where I couldn't hear her. "I can't hear you, you're gonna have to speak up." I smiled at her. She repeated and I nodded. She looked happy and thanked me. I told her to rest because we had to get up early, but she didn't leave. "Listen, you're pretty and I was wondering what you're sexuality was? I mean I don't want that to sound too straight forward bu-" "I'm Bi." I said warmly, cutting her off from talking too much. She smiled back and said "Ok good to know. See you in a couple hours." I saw her walk back and went to sleep, this time a dream in black and white.
