Treat You Better

D-Tent

"Boys, this is your new tentmate, Robin." I walked beside Pendanski as we got in the tent. "She'll be staying with you guys." They all looked up as they heard the word "She". They all looked surprised and then looked me up and down, including the boys I met earlier. "Now," Pendanski started again. "I need someone to be her mentor. Ya'know, show her around, make sure she's doing good. They all asked at the same time. 'Damn, since when did I become so special?' I thought. Rarely anyone talked to me back home, so it was nice to have some  attention for once. "Um, Squid, why don't you?" He smiled at Pendanski, then me. "Gladly Sir." He winked at me before standing near me. "Now Robin, any questions need answering, ask him okay?" Pendanski asked me, pointing at Squid. "Yep, all good sir."Pendanski left and I realised they were all looking at Squid,  enviously. "You boys jealous?" He asked them. They all groaned a small "Yes" and started to go back to what they were all doing.

"So, what's everyone's names?" I asked them. They all turned to me and stood up. "Ah, I'll tell her guys. Besides, I'm her mentor." They sat down, but kept looking at me. "Of course, you know me, X-ray and Armpit." I nodded in response. "So, that's Zigzag, Magnet, Caveman, and Zero." Zigzag had blonde hair that stuck out everywhere, and was wearing a  white t-shirt. Magnet was a Hispanic boy, with a bandana on his head. Caveman had brown curly hair, and wearing his jumpsuit up. Zero was light skinned, with brown curly hair and had his jumpsuit up like Caveman's. They all were pretty attractive, so I wasn't as nervous as I was before. Squid then showed me where I slept and I sat my stuff down. I looked up to see them all still staring at me and I asked them, "What are you guys looking at?" They all turned their heads, some rubbing the backs of their necks out of embarrassment. 

"Well, thanks Squid for the help." I must've woken him out of some sort of daze because next thing I saw, was him staring at me. "Oh uh- no problem." I laid down on my cot, thinking about the day. 'Why would she give me the shoes? Was she trying to set me up? Ugh, I can't believe her!'  That's all I could think about for about an hour. There was a bell, and I saw squid coming over to me. "That's the dinner bell." He had his hand out, waiting for me to take it. I soon took it and stood up. "Um, you can let go now Squid." He was still holding my hand. He looked down and soon took it away. His face turned red and I laughed for a little. It was cute. We met up with the guys who were half way there. 

X-ray saw me and walked beside me. "I've got a couple rules, alright?" I nodded to show I was listening. "1. Just because your a girl, doesn't mean were gonna treat you like a princess. And 2. If you find anything whilst your digging, give it to me ok?" I nodded, he smiled at me. I saw Squid looking at me while we were walking and quickly looked back. I got really nervous for some reason.

----------------------------------------------AT THE MESS HALL---------------------------------------------------------

I grabbed a tray and got into line. Squid was in front of me as he told me to get behind him in line everyday. They put this gross looking food on my tray, until it came to the bread station. the bread looked like the only edible thing there. "We'll sit with the boys." Squid told me as I followed behind him. I sat down, in between Zero and Squid. "So Robin," X-Ray Started talking. "Since you didn't dig today, you wouldn't mind giving your bread to some who did, would you?" I looked at him, picked up the bread, gave it to him and said "You can have it." I gave him a light smile as the boys looked shocked I would give up my bread to him.

 "What they'd get you in for, Robin?" Zigzag asked me, the boys all turned to look at me. "I stole a pair of shoes." They all laughed except Caveman and Zero. "Yo Robin, Caveman got in for the same thing." I looked surprised. "Where they still on someone's feet?" Squid snickered. "They were Stephen Curry's shoes." They all stopped laughing and looked at me shocked. "You did not steal Stephen Curry's shoes." X-ray started again. " My friend and I stole them and it so happened she ran of whilst I had them in my hand. Got caught and got sent here." They all looked at me with sympathetic looks. "Don't give me sympathy guys." I scoffed. "Surely you guys have gotten in for worse." "Well, you'll find out tonight darling." Squid said, looking at me with puppy eyes. 'Damn, these boys really are simps, aren't they?' I laughed to myself on that one. I went to the tent after dinner for a bit then, went to the wreck room.

---------------------------------------------AT THE WRECK ROOM------------------------------------------------------

I walked into the wreck room and saw the boys, Squid saw me and waved, I waved back. Suddenly, I tripped over someone's leg. "Watch it punk!" "You watch it, man." I said, I didn't realise he took that as I was being sassy and he decided to push me to the ground. It was the guy from before. "What did you say?" He looked at me, with his fists balled up. " I said you watch it, unless you can't hear right." The boys saw as well as the rest of the room. Squid pulled me back when the guy was about to grab me. 

"Listen," X-ray started talking, which made me look at him. "If we start something now, the Warden will come down hard on all of us, aight?" "Just keep her away from me!" They all nodded and ZigZag grabbed my shoulder. "He's crazy, don't talk or look at him alright?" I nodded, still pissed that I couldn't of punched him then and there. They all stood around the pool table they were playing at. "Did you guys see chase out there?" I heard Armpit say. "Yeah Chase was tough." Caveman said. "Nobody messes with Chase." Squid said. "No, I don't wanna mess with anybody!" I said, I got worried that I messed with the wrong guy. Another bell rang, indicating that it was time to go to our tents. "You coming Chase?" I hear ZigZag say. "Yeah, you coming Chase?" X-Ray asked. I was taken back, but caught up to Zero. "Wait, I'm Chase?" He looked at me and said "Well, it's better than Barfbag." I smiled at him, then the floor. I got a nickname, but that was fast.
