"You know once my third grade teacher asked me what my father's profession was." Noel says. It's not very often that he speaks, hence everyone present in the household listens to him in amusement.
He continues, "I answered that he was a house husband"
"Really?!" Nora chuckles in amusement.
"Yeah, my teacher was confused and asked me to confirm once again with Papa. But I was quite stubborn then." He purses his lips and controls his laughter.
"Now, why can't a man be a house husband!" Mr. Aloha finally comments as he laughs at the creative term his son gave him as a child.
"Even I want a house husband" Nora says with twinkle in her eyes.
"Not everyone's lucky like your mother." Mr. Aloha replies with a smug look on his face. "She found a husband who can cook delicious food, help her with house chores, occassionally work and earn alot. And above all, fasts for her health and longevity."
Well, that is almost true. He did earn and save a lot. It's just that, he has never been stable at his job. The reasons he gave for leaving the jobs are hilarious too. Once he fought with the secretary, once with the boss himself, once the new recruit was promoted over him, once he was homesick, and once he just got bored. And so, he changed over thirty jobs in his whole career. His kids and wife got used to his instability and joblessness since long ago. Anyway, who says a man always has to earn while his wife takes care of the house? Misogyny definitely has no place in the 'Aloha family'.
The door bell rings, and whole family welcomes the lady of the house- their sole breadwinner. They hand her a glass of tea as soon as she enters.
Mrs. Aloha senses their unusual behavior, while she realizes they are upto no good. She immediately moves into the kitchen as she anticipates the worst. The father and children trio apparently cooked something unhealthy and made a huge mess in the kitchen. The vegetable waste litters the kitchen platform. The sink is full of dirty dishes. The dustbin is filled with chocolate and wafer packets.
Then she glances at her family as they shamelessly laugh and gossip.
And she wonders if she has three children instead of two.
