This sucks.
Gulf let out a deep sigh as he headed back to Mew's apartment.
AA would not let things go now, Gulf knew that. The best thing now was to distance himself from Mew.
But I've just gotten used to being with him.
For the first time in his life, Gulf felt almost happy with someone. He wanted to stay with Mew, but he knew he had to leave. He didn't plan to share the gory details with Mew. That way, if the Seishoukai chased after him, Mew could be completely oblivious.
I didn't help things. I made them worse.
He looked down at himself with dismay. The beautiful British suit was now stained with coffee. His coat was smudged with footprints and ripped down the back, probably sliced with a knife during the brawl.
Damn it!
He didn't want Mew to see him looking like this. He paused at the marble pillar outside the building and took a deep breath.
Fuck it.
Mew could definitely be annoying, but he didn't care about Gulf's Yakuza past. No matter how much Gulf threatened him, Mew had never looked the least but intimidated. The man was either incredibly impressive---or incredibly foolish.
When Mew had forced them to be a couple, Gulf had finally opened up to him. Mew pampered him and let him be himself.
But I can't be with Mew anymore.
His heart grew heavy with what he was about to do. His chest tightned, almost like someone was pushing down on it. He could never felt pain like this before. How could he go through with this? His eyes filled with tears, which he couldn't hold back.
Huh?
Was this really him?
Gulf liked being with Mew, that was certain. Nothing more, nothing less. But why was he feeling so much pain? He felt utterly lost. Biting down on his lip, he sobbed like a little girl.
What the hell's wrong with me?
He couldn't believe himself. The former booss of the Hinodegumi, who once struck fear in the hearts of men, was bawling like a baby? What the hell had Mew done to him? He scowled, rubbed his eyes, and looked up at the sky.
Mew.
Just thinking about him made Gulf feel warm inside. He wanted Mew to hold him tight. He wanted Mew to tell him everything would be all right.
This was what he had always wanted, always needed. He liked Mew way more than he ever thought he would. But only now, when he was about to leave him, could Gulf even admit that to himself.
He rubbed his eyes again with his fists, then thrust them into his pockets. He looked over the payment demand for Heart System.
He had hoped to collect the money and then gallantly present it to Mew. He wanted to prove he was useful to him, despite the opinion of those high and mighty executives.
But that just wouldn't be possible now.
He wanted to just put the payment demand in Mew's mailbox and leave without saying goodbye, though he desperately wanted to see him. He knew this might be their last chance together. His chest tightened again. He felt so much for Mew, he knew that now. And though he also knew that leaving without saying goodbye would be easier for both of them, he still couldn't bring himself to do it.
He checked his reflection in the hallway, making sure he looked calm, then headed to Mew's apartment.
