I wasn't rudely awaken this time, but that was probably because I wasn't welcome before the Duke and Duchess after my comment yesterday. It didn't bother me, I had more things to accomplish today. Noticing a cold breakfast on my desk, I made the assumption that all meals would be delivered to me in my room.
Food, freedom to roam around and no one to talk to; what more could I ask for. Eating enough to fill my stomach, I threw on a dress and got to work. Surprisingly enough, the silver lines that gave me sight were starting to give me comfort. Maybe it was because, I will never be in the dark again. Slowly making my way to the library, I searched for a nook where I could hide.
The location of the study room was on the ground floor and the library on the second. The far right corner of the library might be over just enough to be able to hear what was going on in the study. Of course this would require certain "abilities" but I was not worried. First, I scouted out the whole library, making sure no one would appear at the wrong time. Second, I conveniently locked myself in here. I could pass it off as a prank by one of the maid or Duke's sons.
Crouching down in the corner, I tapped the wall. A small, vent-like hole appeared. Concentrating, I extended this all the way down. I was getting closer to the study and holding my breath, I went for it. A small "pop" occurred and I was able to hear in the other room. Silence.
Breaking out into a sweat, I was thinking it was discovered. Scrambling to come up with an excuse, I grabbed a book and prepared for the door to burst open. And it did, only it was the study door and not the library.
"Thank goodness she's not invited to any meal times. Can you imagine having to converse with such a disgrace?"
This was the Duchess's voice and I realized that they were coming back from breakfast. Something I was purposely not invited to. Quietly reaching over to the nearest bookshelf, I grabbed a book and quickly glanced at the title.
Why Commoners Are Lesser Beings
Not feeling a shred of remorse, I changed it into a notebook with blank pages. Now I just needed a quill. Looking around, I found one lying on a desk close to the door. Grabbing it, I shuffled back to the vent waiting to write down any information. And boy did I.
Completely Legal Observations #1
The Duke and Duchess do not want to deal with me; however their hands are tied
I was not summoned by the Duke and Duchess > They are trying to find out who brought me here
"That" woman has a name- Zunilel
· She was the half- sibling of the Duke (not much is known of her lineage) > the previous Duke adopted her from the south
· Somehow became pregnant and was sent to live in the second estate (a coverup)
· Gave birth to "me" (but aside from that they don't know anything)
· She passed away four years ago ("I" was 17) > so I'm 21
The only information about me that was common (among this family and workers) is me being blind
Rhedin (Eldest son) is getting closer to Rumad (First Prince) because it is predicted that he will be the next King. As the heir, he needs to secure connections for the Alderredeen family
Tirvak (Second son) is an idiot, but is courting one of the Princesses. If he can marry her, it would be a beneficial alliance.
Aber (Second prince) doesn't have enough backing. His mother is imprisoned in the northern palace. He might be sent off to marry a foreign princess, by the wish of the Queen.
