My mind was blank. I don't know what to say. The King was done speaking. I look over and noticed Khesir hadn't moved. Nudging his arm he snapped out of it and walked to replace his father. Swallowing, I could see him take a deep breath. "I vow to create a country full of equality, full of freedom, full of peace, full of prosperity. This is my vow and I will live every day in the service of my subjects."
The crowd was quiet at first and then it burst into a loud roar. I couldn't help but cry. Just six days ago they looked at him in fear and now they were cheering him on with hope. Hope for a better day I could see how it happened his kindness, his generosity, his humble nature. This was all him. I did nothing. I only got him comfortable enough to share it with the world. Clapping along with everyone else I couldn't help but whisper, Find him, Save him, Crown him
Find him, Save him, Crown him
He pulled my hand tugging me before the crowd. Their cheers hadn't stopped and then before everybody's eyes, he pulled me into a kiss. This kiss was sweet and it was burned into my brain. A memory that I would talk about for years to come. I'm home.
Epilogue:
After all that was said and done, Khesir became King and I was his Queen. The ceremony was long, dreadfully long. We thankfully made it through with a couple of jokes and some well placed glares. Both of us were crowned and ready to start our new journey.
Sacks of paper hit my desk. I looked up with death glares towards a person. "Are you kidding me? I just finished mine!" "Well I thought as a married couple we need to share the load." "It's only because you suck at paperwork." He shrugged his shoulders, but didn't contest that statement. Because it was true. Man I didn't realize how much paperwork royalty had. I thought that they could just get away with everything, but I was wrong. Stretching my arms up I could feel pain crossed my neck. Khesir noticed my discomfort and came up behind me. Massaging my neck and shoulders, I let out a sigh of relief. "Is that better?" "Yeah doesn't make up for the fact that you gave me half your share." "I know, I know but think about this if we get through this we can go to bed early." Whispering those last words set a shiver down my spine.
I got back to work, just wanting for this to be over so I could go to bed. Finally what felt like forever ago, we finished paperwork. I was half tempted to throw the quill across the room, but my common sense said that would be a pain. Getting up we crossed the room where our four poster bed lied. Flopping down on the mattress I was tempted to fall asleep right there.
Something nudged me."Come on you can't sleep in these clothes." I let out a mumbled "no". There was a laugh and I was shook once again. "Come on it will only be a couple seconds and then you can pass out." I reluctantly rolled over snatched the night clothes out of his hands and marched to the bathroom.
He was right it only took a couple seconds, but a couple seconds for tired person takes forever. I was back again, jumping on the mattress. Ready to curl up and pass out. I could feel him curl his arms around my waist, stroking my hair. "Would it make you feel better if I sang."
He didn't sing that often, but I remember the first time he sang to me when I was falling asleep. Nodding I crawled into his side. "Yeah that would make it feel better." He had a laugh. "Alright here's a song that I thought of when I first met you."
I've waited a hundred years
But I'd wait a million more for you
Nothing prepared me for
What the privilege of being yours would doIf I had only felt the warmth within your touch
If I had only seen how you smile when you blush
Or how you curl your lip when you concentrate enough
Well I would have known
What I was living for all along
What I've been living forYour love is my turning page
Where only the sweetest words remain
Every kiss is a cursive line
Every touch is a redefining phraseI surrender who I've been for who you are
For nothing makes me stronger than your fragile heart
If I had only felt how it feels to be yours
Well I would have known
What I've been living for all along
What I've been living forThough we're tethered to the story we must tell
When I saw you, well I knew we'd tell it well
With a whisper we will tame the vicious seas
Like a feather bringing kingdoms to their knees
