I woke up in someone's arms. Well in Khesir's arms. Instantly feeling embarrassed I twisted out of his grasp. My feet landed on the ground, but I was still unstable. Falling back into him, I made sure I was steady before taking a step forward.
Looking around I was trying to figure out where we were. It was Khesir's office. The place where we met formally for the first time and when this crazy adventure was set into motion. Khesir wasn't sitting behind his desk, this time he made his way towards the couches in the corner.
Following his example. I sat beside him. The silence stretched on and on and soon I had to break it. "I honestly didn't know." I pleaded to him. His stoic face was frightening me and I was worried that I had taken several steps back in our relationship.
Turning towards him. I grabbed his hands. "I promise, I only knew about healing and some tiny things. Nothing of this caliber." Khesir was analyzing my face and let out a sigh. "Well you are now in the center of a storm. My father could have you dragged to the Royal Academy of Magic or locked up for eternity."
That didn't help my nerves and tears started flowing again. He was lost in thought and didn't notice my distress. I was so lost. Of course in the moment that I acknowledged my love for Khesir, was the moment that I had to make everything worse.
We only had two more days of the celebration and who knows what will happen after that. The door bursted open and Hazen searched the room. Eventually his eyes landed on us. Mostly on me muffling my sobs. Fury crossed his eyes and he rushed over. Flinching I braced myself for the worse. Only I heard the sound of flesh meeting flesh.
Hazen had punched Khesir. Khesir's head was turned away from me and blood was trickling down his lips. I was in shock. Hazen was supposed to protect him, but instead he punched him. Hazen apparently wasn't done with Khesir yet. Grabbing his shirt and pulling him close. "What are you doing?"
I hadn't heard ice in Hazen's voice until now. I could only watch as Khesir turned towards Hazen. Grabbing his hands, Khesir twist out of his grasp and elbowed Hazen hard in his cheek. It broke out into a full on brawl. And frankly I was worried. Not wanting to get in between this, I recognized that they had somethings they wanted to work out.
I moved all the breakable things away and started scooting furniture. Occasionally an elbow was close to knocking my lights out, but I dodged it. I had my training of course, something I had unfortunately neglected in the wake of this whole fiasco.
Once everything was moved, I waited on the side. It was only until Khesir reached for his blade. Annoyance raged through me and I stomped on the ground shouting. "Enough." The wood floor rose to wrap around both men and restrained them. Walking in between, I posed a simple question. "Are you done?"
I could see the exhaustion in both of them and only after both nodded, did I release them. Falling to the floor, I sat down with them. Hazen was panting for air, while Khesir was rubbing his shoulder. "Now that you've gotten that out of your system, please tell me why you were brawling."
Both were reluctant to answer, it only was until I threatened to restrain them again, did I get something. "He was blaming you." Hazen gritted his teeth. "This isn't your fault." I was happy to know that Hazen was protective of me, but to fight the person he needed to guard was a little much. Khesir was quick to retort. "I was upset that I didn't know about this Lahe energy."
Turning away from me, Khesir crossed his arms. Hazen looked about ready to start another fight, but I stopped him. "I didn't know. If I did, you would have been the first to know." Wrapping my arms around his shoulders, I rested my chin on his head. "And it seems this could prove to be beneficial in putting you on the throne."
