Chapter 4: Fire's Request

Peak woke up with a start. He opened his eyes to see Fire playing a trumpet as loud as she could.

"Fire," Peak grumbled," if you want to wake me up, just gently shake me, not play that hideous trumpet."

"It's not hideous! You only think that because I played it too loud and out-of-tune on purpose."

Now Peak opened his orange eyes completely.

"What are you even here for?" Peak asked," and how did you know that this was my cave?"

"The SeaWing told me! You know, your clawmate. My friend asked him where you were."

Peak realized that the bed of coral was empty.

"So, Baltic got up, went to your cave, and told you that I was sleeping, so you decided to wake me up like you always do at home by playing the trumpet that you borrowed from the music cave?"

"Right, I still haven't asked you yet."

"About what?"

"Peak," she said," I believe that we're being lied to."

"By who?"

"By our parents, of course! They say that we're normal, that we're regular SkyWings living in Possibility. But have you noticed something? Mother always mutters something to Father, every month, one time. On that same day, the day she says something to Father, she says something, probably to us."

"No! We are just normal SkyWings! You just want to be different. Like almost the entire Jade Winglet! You want something like firescales, like Moon's powers, like Turtle's animus power!", Peak said angrily," You see Mother doing something and you completely escalate it."

"More proof!" Fire said, now shouting," Look at this small letter from mother!" She held it up.

Dear Peak and Fireball,

I hope your school is going well! We will come for visits monthly.

Love, Mother and Father

"So?"

"So? So that's proof. She has to come every month so she can do something to us. But what?"

"Fire," Peak asked," what are you asking?"

"Peak, I want you to help me. Help me find out the truth. Help me find out what mother does."
