Peak yawned and woke up. He checked the shelf next to him to make sure that the scroll was there. Finally, I have it! That means that I don't have to search anymore! Peak saw Baltic looking at him.
"What?" Peak asked.
"What's with the new scroll?"
"IT'S A NEW SCROLL, for heaven's sake that I borrowed from the library."
Baltic shrugged and Peak walked out to his class. The dragonets of destiny had just came up with a different kind of class. Since there were now seven winglets in the Academy, they picked one dragonet from each winglet, all different tribes. That meant that Paradise would definitely not be there. Baltic had free period this period. Since there would be seven winglets, they had chosen five teachers, so seven dragonets in the academy would have free period. They were: Clay (who would have fourteen dragonets), Starflight, Sunny, Webs, and even Fatespeaker. Since there were seven different tribes too, then, as he blew out a breath of relief, Peak realized that Peril would not be there. Fire wouldn't be there either. Peak looked at his schedule again. He had the class with Fatespeaker. Peak didn't even think that Fatespeaker was even qualified to be a teacher, but at least she would be fun to have; she was very enthusiastic. Peak was the first one to sit down, followed by a SandWing, MudWing, RainWing, and IceWing. Fatespeaker beamed at everyone.
"Well, our NightWing should be arriving soon. You won't have a SeaWing, though," Fatespeaker said.
Peak's stomach sank when he saw who was the NightWing. Burly glared at him and sat down as well. But Peak had a question.
"Uh, why won't we have a SeaWing?" Peak asked.
"You were supposed to have Turtle from the Jade Winglet, but, uh, he's not at the academy today, he went somewhere with Tsunami."
"Where?" the IceWing inquired.
Fatespeaker took a deep breath in before blurting it out. "The lost continent."
The what? Apparently, other students were confused as they looked very curious, except for Burly, who seemed...scared? He wondered if Burly knew more about this "lost continent" and if it was dangerous, because it was enough to seem scary to Burly, who didn't get scared easily. Then, strangely, a thought seemed to plunge into him, not of his voice.
Could they find out? No, no, they couldn't possibly find out about me...
Then, the thought seemed to plunge out of him. Burly turned around and looked at Peak. They were far away, but he seemed to be even more fearful when he saw Peak. What? Isn't it usually the opposite? Did the voice come from Burly? It certainly didn't sound like it. But, could mind readers even have telepathic conversations with a non-mind reader?
"Um, SkyWing, it's your turn."
Peak jumped before realizing it was Fatespeaker's voice
"Oh, uh, I'm Peak, and I live in Possibility and..." I somehow heard a voice in my head? I'm definitely normal? "and my favorite color is pale orange," Peak finished.
Fatespeaker started teaching the class. After a few minutes, the class was dismissed. Everyone had a ten minute break. Peak looked at the list again of what dragons in what cave. Paradise was being taught by-ouch, I feel bad for her-Webs. He ran to the history cave where he bumped into Paradise.
"I found an answer to the whole Burly thing!"
"Really?" she asked eagerly,"What is it?"
"I think he's a mind reader, I found this scroll." He held it out.
"Huh, I thought Moon was the only one who could read minds. Well it does make sense, I know for a fact that Moon would sense anyone coming."
"But, no joke, I heard a thought in my head earlier."
"What was it?" she asked, looking curious and eager to know more.
"It was 'Could they find out? No, no, they couldn't possibly find out about me...'"
"Whoa, cool! I never knew mind readers could do that too!"
"What was the thing that no one could possibly find out about them? The mind ability?"
"I.......don't know, but probably."
Peak walked to his next class. He would have the next class in the library with Starflight. He would be with Subzero from the Jade Winglet, Tamarin of the Gold Winglet, Fearless from the Silver Winglet, Pronghorn from the Copper Winglet, Barracuda from the Quartz Winglet, and Earthquake from the Diamond Winglet. A glimpse of brown caught his eye, but it was only a MudWing walking towards the library. Peak walked inside the library, but there was Burly standing in the way.
"What?"
"Did-did, you, uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, di-did you hear a voice?" Burly asked.
Peak was surprised. Burly looked scared when he looked at Peak. It was usually the opposite, Peak being scared of Burly. But the question was even more confusing. How would he know about the voice?
"Yes, I did."
"Oh, yeah, yeah! I heard that too! What did it say?"
Peak raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you say you heard it too?"
"But I don't remember what it said!"
"Fine. 'Could they find out? No, no, they couldn't possibly find out about me...'"
"Interesting..."
Could he find out? He heard my thoughts, so now he could know about my secret...I'm pretty sure he's figured out the mind reading thing already, but the thing about me helping the Oth-
Burly looked at Peak. "Uh, did you hear it again?"
"Yeah, what's the Oth- thingy?"
"I, uh, I actually, don't know..."
Peak narrowed his eyes. He had found out more about the mind reading ability, but what about this other thing? Helping the something that starts with "Oth".
