After class, Peak crept away to find Paradise.

"I found something else," he whispered to her.

Paradise jumped before realizing it was Peak. "What?" she asked, whispering back.

Peak tried to remember what Burly had said. Something starting with...Oth. "Something about something that starts with 'Oth'," he answered.

"Well it would obviously be something that starts with Other, but what? Otherone? Othertalon? Otherclaws? Othermind? Othertribe? Ooh, Othermind sounds cool!"

"Yes..."Peak agreed.

"So, another mystery! Hooray!"

Peak sighed. Oh, great. Not another one.

"Wanna hear some gossip?"

Peak raised an eyebrow. "A RainWing knowing gossip?"

"Hey!" Paradise protested," I'm stealthy!"

"What?"

"You know Coypu, the MudWing in our winglet?"

"Yes..."

"She has a crush on Squall!"

"And by Squall you mean that grumpy IceWing?"

"All IceWings are grumpy, Peak, like Winter for instance."

"Anyways! I'll just go now, my parents are visiting today!"

"Hey...Peak, why does your wing look a little...leaf-like?"

"I dunno, I was born like that, Fire was too and my father was too."

"Okay, bye!"

Peak watched Paradise skip back to her cave and went to Fire's cave. He passed Baltic on the way. Baltic clutched his wing.

"It still hurts! That stupid firescales, why couldn't she have asked nicely?" Baltic mumbled.

Peak winced, remembering the SkyWing with too much fire. He's right. It must hurt to get touched by that monster. Peak caught himself. He had grown up learning that from his parents. He remembered the fight...the one where Peril had killed Horizon. But Peril wasn't a monster. She was good. Peak mentally slapped himself for believing that. Old habits die hard. He walked into Fire's cave to find her reading a scroll.

"Hey! Fire!"

Fire turned around slowly. "What?" she asked.

"Don't you remember what's happening today?"

"Yeah," Fire answered calmly and placidly.

"Why aren't you coming?"

Fire rolled her eyes. "I'll come, I just need to finish looking at this roll of the scroll."

Peak looked at the scroll. He raised an eyebrow. "Is this about...plants?" Peak suddenly realized something. "You didn't-"

Fire smirked. "I did." She held out the willow sprout she had been growing.

Fire always loved that plant, because it was a little more green than usual, and that had gotten her interested in botany.

"Well, come on, Fire, let's go."

Fire flew with Peak out of her cave. The sun looked as bright as polished silver outside. He flew down to the ground with Fire to find two figures coming to meet him. He then realized that it was his mother and father.

"Hello, Peak! And Fire too! How do you like the academy?" Elevation asked.

Peak and Fire both opened their mouths. "It's good!" they said simultaneously.
