Stockholm, Sweden
February 1978Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, or Frida for short were in the studio as usual. It was in the middle of a very hectic working period and there was so much that they had to get done. After all, they were at the height of fame and on top of the world having released their most recent album which featured hits such as Take a Chance on Me and The Name of the Game, plus a movie that went along with it.
Now, the group were focusing on their next album. They knew that they had to keep up with the popular demand despite their families waiting for them back home. This was especially true for Agnetha and Björn, the first A and B in ABBA as well as a married couple with two small children. A girl and a boy to be exact. Linda had just turned five while baby Christian was nearly three months old and was growing by the day.
Benny and Frida, on the other hand, had a big blended family with Benny's two children and Frida's two children who were both previous relationships. Unlike Agnetha and Björn, Benny and Frida weren't married yet. But they were engaged and they have been for nearly nine years at this point. And because of that, Björn and Agnetha would often joke around with their friends asking if they've finally found a wedding date.
At this point, the group have had a long day of recording and it was crunch time. It was best to take a break for now before heading back into the recording booth to try to record some new material that Björn and Benny have started working on, despite their writers block. It was something that had never happened to them before and they didn't know how to deal with it. As the group sat down eating their lunch, they couldn't help but think about so many things. Themselves, their families, their relationships, their fame, etc., there was a lot to think about and look forward to.
However, just as they were finishing their lunch, Benny couldn't help but notice something strange that was in their usual break room right by the garbage can. He had never seen it before and it looked like an old video game and this fascinated him to no end. Benny had always been a very clever and curious kind of guy.
"Guys!" Benny exclaimed as he turned to Björn, Agnetha, and Frida and beckoned them to come over to where he was. "Take a look at this board game! I don't know what it's doing here but it looks really cool!"
"Let me see that!" Frida exclaimed as she took the game from Benny and started looking at the video game cover and reading the information that was there. "Jumanji....hmm. That's a really unique looking name for a video game. Sounds like something Hans would definitely play based on the information and the pictures."
"I know this sounds crazy," Björn suggested. "But perhaps we should give it a try."
"No!" Agnetha exclaimed as she turned to her husband and gave him a light smack. "Are you crazy?!"
"Anna, I'm just curious," Björn replied as he tried to reason with his wife as a rumble is heard coming from the game, which is still in Frida's hands.
"Umm....," Benny announced, sounding confused as the game continued rumbling. "What's going on?"
"I don't know," Agnetha shrugged before getting worried. "But I don't think this looks good at all!"
Just then, Jumanji turns itself into a clunky, 70s video game cartridge and sucks Agnetha, Björn, Benny, and Frida into the game. To the rest of the world, the four Swedish superstars had disappeared without a trace right at the height of their fame. They were presumed dead almost immediately, leaving behind six children and many grandchildren between the four of them. There's no doubt their legacy lives on along with many conspiracy theories surrounding the group's disappearance and death.
