Chapter One: Where it All Began

Katherine already woke up feeling the day was a bit ominous but she didn't know for sure in what way or how... Her father Duke Agriche had important business with the kingdom up north as the Agriche family was having complications recently and he needed to get in contact with his old friend who held a vey high position over there. Katherine's mother was a lawyer and she needed to also go to the northern kingdom as some of their money was disappearing lately. 

Her mother was wary of certain ends but dismissed it as just a small worry but Katherine knew better. in Katherine's opinion her parents were a bit too naive they believed too much that the world was good and just ignored the bad and dark corners of it. Katherine on the other hand looked at all the details and was observant of anything that unsettled her. Her brother Elijah held a high position as he was one of the guards protecting the crown prince. 

Now her brother was better he at least acknowledged there was darkness in this world but just like her parents he trusted people too easily. Usually almost always her parents were the ones who traveled to a different kingdom whenever the family had business but today Katherine had something very specific she wanted to do in the northern kingdom. Her parents denied but Katherine persisted so they allowed her to go.  " wont you please at least ride in the carriage " asked her mother as Katherine mounted on her horse along with the guards accompanying her, usually katherine would but this was one of the few times she would be able to travel out of the kingdom and experience what she calls " a little bit of freedom". 

Nonetheless she agreed to at least bring the carriage with her for show for when they arrive in the kingdom of lyrienth. Katherine was a bit worried about how long the trip would take but she didn't think much could happen over a month. Katherine started on her way out of the kingdom but first she saw her friends,. Katherine wished them farewell and that she''ll inform them of her trip once she gets back. 

After a bit she bumped into viscount Malcom, the people around her said he was charming and that he was trust worthy. Katherine felt more wary about him instead of charming, she saw him more as a snake alluring on the outside, but mysterious on the inside. " having a good day Katherine"? He asked, Katherine stared at him curtly but knew she had to respond politely so she said yes.  He asked where she was going and since nobody knew she was going to handle her family's dilemma this time around she responded with "I'm going to buy some materials to make a dress for the ball that is in a  few months". Count Malcom looked at her suspiciously so Katherine asked if there is a reason for him to be so curious about her business  her tone rising with warning which caused him to look baffled but Katherine caught  a glare for a split second.

She would have said more but she had to go on her way and not lose time. So off she went, the time to get to lyrienth would take about  two weeks to and back not counting the time in which she stays there. It was a rather peaceful ride there as it had been a while since she went on this route. Days and nights passed as Katherine carefully formulated her plan and what exactly she'd need to say and who to go to for her problem before she brings it back to her kingdom's king and queen. Then finally there will be proof that there has been tampering within her family even though nobody believes them. 

The carriage stopped and out walked Katherine she looked outside and finally she was there. The kingdom of Lyrienth, Katherine was greeted by the assistant of the king and queen and as she was being guided down the reception hall she knew that as soon as she walked through those doors that her real business would begin. The assistant opened the doors and in walked Katherine into a world of politics, nerve, and interest, her intelligence will be her only strength in this visit. "Bam" the doors closed behind her and signaled the start of her story.
