Alternate Change

Chapter 10

'Just another day at this creepy building. Same screeches and loud screams. Same ominous smells. It's just like going a carnival, except you are inside a hospital surrounded by fear and darkness. And here I am with a walking and talking battle machine that could kill me anytime if I'm not careful. What has my life become?' S1 thought as he watched Lily peep through the doors, watching persons get dissected.

"So, is that what they do?" the same cheery voice asked.

"Yes, now go back to your room..." S1 replied as Lily followed him.

It has been five days since the incident happened. The damage caused by her was so cataclysmic that the windows cracked. The Great City shook when the explosion happened. With eyes now heavy, Lily went to bed.

"Sleep well, Lily."

At the middle of the night, someone sneaked into the room. Lily was in a deep sleep, so someone lifted her and went. Then, the person placed her in the vehicle and drove off to the Great City.

"Mari?" someone woke her.

The girl's eyes opened and found herself in a new place. She then stood up and pulled out a large knife from her back.

"Hello stranger, nice to meet you. I'm Lily. I'm in a new place because you've kidnapped me. I think you'll have to die..." she smiled as she raised her weapon and tried to stab the person.

The person quickly dodged it and spoke.

"Stop! I'm Dor. Do you remember me?"

"Oh! It's Mr. Great's son. I apologize for my wrongdoings." she said as she hid her weapon and slightly bowed.

"What have they done to you?" Dor whispered.

"I'm sorry. That was quite unclear. I didn't catch that. Please speak clearly."

Just then, another person came bursting into the room.

"Hey Dor-bell! What are you-"

The two lads exchanged glances. Tray decided to break the silence.

"Hello Mari, darling. Welcome back. I have missed you."

"Hello Tray, Mr. Great's another son. I think you're confusing me for someone. My name is Lily. It's nice to meet you!" Lily said as her pink hair bounces.

"Lily? But that's the name of- wait... don't tell me..." Tray said as realization hit him. He had a bad plan.

"Tray..." Dor whispered as he became worried.

"Hahaha! She doesn't remember!" Tray laughed.

Dor's eyes went wide as he knew what was going to happen. He then engaged in a fighting stance and brought out a weapon. 'There was no way my psycho twin brother's going to add Mari to his doll collection. Not now, not ever. At least that's what I think he's going to do. He must've drank his happy medicine again.' he thought as he charged at his brother.

"Lily! Mari! Run outside and get in the car! Max is going to take you somewhere safe away from this crazy brother of mine!" Dor shouted while fighting.

Dor's voice ran through her head. As she heard this, her colors went back to normal. Memories started to come back. It hurt her head as she clutched it. She was now back to Mari. 'What am I doing here? Get out of here!' a voice in her head ordered.

She then started running towards the exit amd found a car. She got in and shut the car's door.

"Let's move. Now!" Mari ordered.

Off the car went and led her to another place away from the city. After an hour of driving, Mari finally spoke.

"What happened? I'm sorry for being rude, but who are you?" she asked.

"Don't you recognize this voice?"

As Mari heard the person's voice, she squealed.

"Max? Is that really you? How did you escape?" Mari asked.

"Yeah. Long story, but what happened to you? Minutes ago your hair was pink."

"Even the way you talk has changed. Wait, what?"

"Your hair was pink minutes ago."

"My hair? Pink? Ha! You must be really tired that you have started to imagine things." Mari said.

"You really don't remember, do you?"

"Remember what? All I remember is getting out of that house for the first time, away from Dor's crazy twin and being stabbed by a robot and other than that... I don't remember anything..."

"That dude is crazy alright... wait... you don't remember being turned into a battle machine?"

"Battle machine? Pfft! Ha! I think you've watched too much action movies. But I surely did remember waking up next to Dor and tried to kill him..... wait...... what?"

"Wow! This place is really messed up. Not only the place, but the people too."

Mari went silent. 'It feels like something's wrong..... something's missing. I've lost my memories and gained it back, but some went missing. I feel like my body became animatronic. What happened to me? What is happening? Why am I like this. It feels... strange.' she thought.

"Hey Max?"

"Yeah?"

"Are we there yet?"

"Yes. Perfect timing."

As soon as they got off, Mari saw a mansion in the middle of nowhere. This was the only normal looking place when things went crazy. Upon entering the premises, loud arguments were heard.

"Hey, you're the one who started it!" a person yelled.

"No! It's you're fault!" another person yelled back.

'I think I'm going to enter a zoo.' Mari thought.

"What in the world is going on here!?" Max shouted.

Everyone went quiet when Max went in. Mari awkwardly followed Max as they went towards a large table. Max offered Mari a seat. She thanked him and sat down. Eyes scanned her as she sat in silence.

'Great! Now I am the center of attraction! Just wonderful!' Mari thought sarcastically.
