Alternate Change

Chapter 20

When the group reached the exit, they ran to an emergency raft and started to prepare it. It was in the middle of the night in the middle of the ocean, so nothing much was seen. Just then, bright lights were turned on. Everyone shielded their eyes at the sudden change of lighting.

"Leaving so soon?" a gruff voice called.

As everyone's eyes adjusted, a giant robot scooped up the raft that they were in, making everyone gasp in surprise. Then, it placed the raft in front of the man.

"Father?" the twins sang in unison.

"You know what sons? You could have just asked to borrow the yacht, but you didn't. And you Tray? I expected a lot from you, but you fell into your brother's trap." the man said in a disappointed tone.

"Trap!? You were the one who was trapping us this entire time!" Tray shouted.

"Why are you so rude? Is this the influence of your brother? I didn't raise you to be that way..." the man walked closer.

Grace pointed a gun at him. The man stopped in his tracks and chuckled. Mari didn't know what was happening as she just woke up and pretended to be asleep.

"Oh, your friends are also brutal, huh? My sons have become rebels. What a twist." the man stated.

"You are not our father!" Dor shouted.

"What was that, my boy? What did you just say?" the man asked in a low voice as his eyes got darker.

"Are you deaf? What he just said was 'You are not our father!'" Tray repeated what his brother said.

"Am I not?" the man asked as he smiled.

"No, you are not! You are just an impostor trying to take the identity of our father! Our father may be a bit too much sometimes, but he would never go as far as this!

I know I hated him, but you are nothing like him! I was a fool to believe in you and making me turn my back against my own brother! You made me use those. You manipulated me like I was  mere entertainment. I did all those bad actions to people because I can't even control myself. And look what you did to Mari!"

Tray looks at Mari who was currently closing her eyes, not knowing she was pretending to be asleep, yet he was too immersed with his emotions.

"She's so precious, but you turned her into something we can't even recognize anymore! You made me hurt her, but it could have gotten worse if my brother wasn't there with me. Dor, Mari, and everyone else didn't deserve any of this monstrosity!

You know what!? I'm sick of this and it is time that you know that I am not your puppet anymore!" Tray exclaimed as he held back the tears that were threatening to spill.

Dor patted his brother's back as he tried to comfort him.

"Ha... Haha... HAHAHAHAHA!" the man laughed as his voice started glitching.

When the man stopped laughing, his body mutated into another person that no one has ever recognized before. Everyone cringed at the sight.

"Finally! I'm back!" the man said as he laughed again with green eyes glaring at them.

Grace started to shoot at the man, but the giant robot covered the man. Just then, the man spoke.

"Lily, activate your battle mode."

Mari's colors switched as she heard this. The man spoke as he saw the scene unfold. The girl opened her eyes and got up. Lance tried to stop her, but the spider-like metallic arms emerged from her back, so he let go before he was sliced. She then started to walk to the man's side.

"Now, destroy them!" the man ordered.

Lily walked back towards them. The group stared in horror as the girl approached them. When the girl stopped walking, the group started to point their weapons at her. Lily just smiled genuinely and looked at them. The group became confused, but became scared again when her extensions threatened to slice them. As her extensions neared them, it swiftly lifted the raft without harming anyone and threw it far away from the yacht. The man became furious at this, so he decided to push the buttons to put Lily in demise. But Lily laughed maniacally and sliced the man to pieces. Blood splattered in every direction as she continued to laugh.

From afar, the group stared at the yacht.

"What just happened?" Lance asked.

"Did she just throw us out to safety?" Vincent asked.

Nobody answered as they questioned themselves. Just then, a loud explosion was heard. When they turned around, a mushroom-like cloud formed from the yacht. Their raft drifted away as the explosion caused a big wave. The group widened their eyes as realization hit them.

"Yes... yes, she just did..." Grace slowly answered.
