High up in the  citadel, a beautiful young woman with jet-black hair was working on her journal.

Having being dismissed rather rudely by her guardian, Morgana Le Fay, Uther's  ward, was enjoying a rare moment of peace and quiet.  Writing in her journal was the perfect opportunity to find her own piece  of mind, to dissect her innermost thoughts and, perhaps most importantly, make sense of the vivid nightmares that disturbed her on a regular basis.

A shout from the courtyard rudely jolted Morgana back to reality. Startled, she rose slowly to her feet and moved curiously to her chamber window. Her eyes rested on the courtyard, where a group of young men were charging back towards the castle. Morgana rolled her eyes. She had no doubt that these young knights were returning after  their daily practise in the arena.

When she's inspected the crowd more closely, Morgana found herself narrowing her eyes. It was only now that she realised a very important member of Camelot's elite band of knights was missing.

Where was Arthur?

More often that not, he'd be leading the troupe and  making the most of being the centre of attention- so why was today different? Of course, there was the possibility that he'd been summoned by his father for important business. In which case, Morgana realised, I'd better be ready in case Uther requires me too. (Though Morgana knew that this wouldn't be for any particular purpose other than to show respect towards Uther's guest.  )Hopefully Gwen will be back soon, so she can help with any necessary preparations.

Without further ado, Morgana returned her attention to her journal. Satisfied with what she'd written, Morgana shut the book and slipped it back into its secret hiding place, which wouldn't be secret if I told you where it was!

It was whilst she was checking her attire in the mirror on her dressing table- a lilac dress with long, floaty sleeves- that Morgana became aware of a great commotion just outside her door. The knights again! Morgana shook her head in disbelief. Really, Arthur! You should know better than to disturb the peace! I don't know what your father would say if he found out!

The next moment, she stiffened as a new voice drifted through the air. A voice that Morgana recognised only too well. It was the voice of her guardian.

Morgana knew only too well what a ruthless figure her guardian could be- especially when it came to the subject of magic. Actually, you only had to utter the word and he no longer listened to anyone. Morgana could only hope that Arthur would not be like his father in that aspect when he ascended the throne.

Suddenly, she froze with a gasp. Out of nowhere, a grey-black storm-cloud had covered the sky. Morgana narrowed her eyes in confusion. How had the weather changed so quickly? However, Morgana was not a figure who was easily beaten by such an unexpected turn of events. Hitching up her lilac skirts, she hurried over to her chamber windows.

What she saw merely confirmed her suspicions.

The sky had indeed suddenly and mysteriously darkened; what's more, the wind was picking up. Now, this wind wasn't a gentle summer's breeze. No; nothing like it. It was a roaring gale that shook the trees until they could barely support themselves.

Rumble. Rumble.

Morgana stiffened. That noise could only mean one thing.

A storm was coming.

This time, Morgana really did feel her nerves jitter. As yet another rumble of thunder shook the heavens, a dreadful thought struck Morgana. Amid all the excitement with the knights returning to Camelot, she'd quite forgotten all about her faithful maidservant- and now, she was in grave danger...
