A new day was dawning.
Golden sunlight streaked across the rooftops of the mighty castle, bathing the castle turrets in a gentle glow. Not a sound could be heard and not a soul could be seen anywhere in the great kingdom.
But deep within the Forests of Balor, a sense of unease hung in the air, just as though the forest itself was waiting for something to happen.
A branch of the mightiest oak tree rustled violently and in one moment, a large bird had swooped out. Upwards it soared, where it settled itself in the topmost branch of the tree. Any witness would have recognised the bird's shiny feathers, large beak and arched back immediately.
It was a raven.
From its viewpoint, the raven surveyed the kingdom below, before becoming air-borne once more. The raven glided expertly on wide-spread wings over tree-tops and a winding dirt road, until eventually, the forest was left in the distance and the kingdom itself seemed to zoom into sight.
In one swift movement, the raven disappeared behind a nearby boulder. From behind the boulder, there came a swirl of lilac smoke.
Seconds later, a beautiful young woman emerged from her hiding place to gaze out at the great city that stood before her. Though the land was equally strange to her as she was to it, she knew exactly where she was.
Camelot.
The woman frowned in thought and her hazel eyes seem to darken with worry. Her journey to Camelot had been arduous, but what concerned her more were the perils yet to come. Perils unbeknownst to any inhabitants of Camelot.
That was why she was here.
She had to see the king.
