The pain is… gone… in fact I don’t feel anything at all… I don’t see anything at all… am I conscious? Am I alive? Shaun paused, trying to make sense of the odd sensation she was feeling. No… that’s not right… I died… I am dead… I felt it… that I felt. Shaun looked down, or was it up? She didn’t really know for sure, everything was pitch black. There was no horizon or landmarks, it was just… empty. Where the hell am I? She thought, bringing a hand up she examined it. Nearly transparent, it was surrounded by a soft white aura, brightening it like a gentle flame, she let out a sigh and smiled, knowing now that she was in fact dead, or more specifically, she was the disembodied soul of her former self. Shaun jumped a bit as a raised voice broke the silence “What do you mean Shaun’s gone again!?” The harshly spoken question echoed around her, answered by another voice too muffled and distorted for Shaun to understand. “That’s obvious isn’t it? Yuu probably went after her without telling anyone… Idiot.” The hollow words seemed to come from right in front of her, as if the person were actually there, hidden away by the darkness. Lavi? Shaun listened closer, but his comforting voice had left as fast as it had appeared, replaced by a musical humming, behind her this time. Is that… Road’s voice? Shaun spun around and tried to speak out, only to discover that she had no voice of her own, no matter what she tried she couldn’t even manage the smallest of whispers, nothing to try and get the little Noah’s attention. it didn’t take long for Road’s song to fade away, this time the exorcists ears were met with several voices at once, not quite as clear as Lavi’s or Road’s, but she could understand them just fine. “He’d always kept that job a secret from us… but I’d always thought it was just smugglin’ or something… do you think he’s even human?” One of the voices let out a sigh, “I don’t know what to believe anymore Clark… I don’t even care ya know… what he is… I just wanna know the poor sap’s okay.” Shaun could faintly hear a little sniffling behind the worried voices of the two men, “He promised me he would come back…” The little voice fading away back into the empty silence, “He promised…” There was a sudden flash of white, painfully stinging her eyes, Shaun used an arm to shield her face. The empty world around her suddenly erupted in voices, relentlessly flooding her ears, listening harder, a lump formed in her throat. Her parents, before the incident, general Sokaro, he trained her for years to become an exorcist, Lavi, Allen, Road, the twins, Marie, general Tiedoll, she couldn’t possibly pick out them all. This was everyone she had ever cared about, even just a little, she smiled to herself knowing that for somebody else there would have been many more… but, everyone she was hearing, no matter how few… at a certain point in her life, had genuinely cared about her. Noticing the light had dimmed, She lowered her arm. Just ahead of her was what looked like an angel, with no head or arms, jaggedly carved from a pure white crystal. Her innocence, come to claim her soul. Standing there, staring at the being that would erase her forever. She was scared. That’s when a certain exorcists voice overpowered the rest, “You really think I’m stupid enough to make her an akuma?” Kanda’s low snarl boomed, reminding her what would happen if she didn’t move forwards, and fast … Goodbye everyone… Nice knowing ya I guess… She thought, taking a step towards the innocence’s burning light, “Give her back…” Came a final voice, silencing all the others. The owner of the voice clicked right away, No… Tyki don’t! A wave of panic washed over her and she began to run, Please don’t let him win.“Give her back…” He repeated louder, as Shaun reached out to the crystal it latched onto her body without mercy, drilling into her ghostly flesh like knives, she could feel it beginning to eat away at her life force. “GIVE HER BACK!” The Noah’s voice was joined by that of another, an animalistic roar of a voice intertwining with his own, his original memory. Joido. Back in the ark, Tyki was losing control. “SHAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUN!” As her name echoed through the emptiness, chains, pulsing with dark matter, shot out of the blackness and clung to the struggling soul. Trying to cry out as they began to rip her away from the innocence, Shaun could still not make a sound, even as they nearly tore her soul in two. These were the Earl’s chains, she was sure of it, but she was too weak from the innocence to fight them. A large shackle clasped itself around her neck, there was a jolt of piercing pain through her head… and her mind went completely blank.
