Shaun stared up at the large white tower before her, she had come back to the place she had been prepared to leave behind forever and she was not too thrilled at the thought of having to ‘make nice’ with everyone again. Kanda waited until she had cooled off enough to talk to and then told her everything she needed to know about the lie he had used, making it very clear that she was going to have to find a way to tie all the loose ends herself. Gonna be tricky to fake a kidnapping after what I did to Allen… and the fact that I did tell them I talked with a Noah… She thought hard, gently biting down on her bottom lip and squinting at the ground as she walked. Or maybe… The corners of Shaun’s mouth snaked up into a smile, I can use that to my advantage. As they neared the gate Shaun, knowing that they were now on camera, trailed behind Kanda in silence. Up until now they didn’t need to worry about being watched, but there were golems everywhere, meaning they no longer had that luxury. Yup, I’m gonna hate this… She sighed as her eyes tracked a single golem fluttering down to meet them, her deceptive little dance with the order began right then and there. There was a brief fizzle of static that gradually developed into section Chief Reever’s voice, “Shaun is that you!?” He exclaimed, “No it’s the fucking tooth fairy-” She growled. “Would ya just let us in Reever? I don’t wanna have to deal with that crybaby gate.” The golem just hovered in place as Reever paused, “I don’t know if I can, there’s a lot of controversy about what happened the day you disappeared and because of all the rumors about you and the Noah… Really my hands are tied here.” She could almost see his little half frown through his voice. Kanda cleared his throat to get Reever’s attention, taking hold of Shaun’s left arm he displayed the fairly large bloody gash that the tease had been hiding in to the camera, she winced a bit at the sudden pain. “So you’re just gonna let her bleed out then.” He sneered, Shaun angrily yanked her arm free of Kanda’s grasp as Reever paused again. A few other muffled voices could be heard, making it clear that he was not alone. “Well…” He began, “I’m probably going to have to have you restrained… But on that note I can definitely get you in.” And with that the slow rumble of moving rock sounded from the gate, revealing the path up to headquarters, but before Shaun could take another step she was surrounded by four blurs of movement. Smaller blurs began to fly towards her, unable to react in time she found herself covered in slips of paper. Shaun was immediately brought to the ground by an immense invisible force, she didn’t bother to struggle, she knew what had happened. Crows… “WHY AM I BEING RESTRAIND!?” Kanda roared from the ground next to her, she remained silent, straining to hear the footsteps of the fifth person approaching them. “Isn’t that obvious Yuu Kanda? You’re just as involved with this as she is.” Shaun cringed at the man’s sickening voice, she would recognize it anywhere. “A welcome party like this must mean my faaavorite person in the whoooole wiiide wooorld is here…” She groaned out loud as she fought the gravity of the spell slips enough to roll onto her back. “Couldn’t stay out of trouble I see Miss Souhait.” He grinned down at her, “Oh piss off Leverrier.” She hissed.

“Is that really any way to talk to the man who has your life in his hands?” He smiled wickedly, “I’m sorry, but I can’t move my arms or legs right now, maybe if you fix that and let me get up off the ground I’ll be in a better mood to deal with your bullshit.” Shaun smiled and then turned her head and spat a little bit of blood into the dirt next to her, the weight of the spell slips was starting to crush her. “Still no respect I see.” He scoffed, “You’re right I’m being childish, after all the spell slips aren’t weighing down all of me, my fingers still seem to work juuust fine.” Shaun snickered, Leverrier’s eyes flicked down to examine Shaun’s left hand, seeing that she had one finger raised up at him his face contorted with disgust. “If my life is on the line here then I don’t have all fucking day, now shut the hell up and bring me inside so we can deal with this properly at least.” She snarled, Leverrier was outraged that she would dare to talk to him in that way, “You foolish girl…” He scowled, Kanda’s eyes widened as he raised a heavy black boot and stomped down hard onto Shaun’s stomach. With the weight he was pressing down onto her and the spells slips still in place, Shaun struggled to breathe. Kanda gritted his teeth but he bit his tongue, loathing eyes fixed on the inspector, as much as he wanted to get up and tear the bastard’s head off, there was nothing he could do. “I do-” “Do it again…” Shaun wheezed, interrupting him, Leverrier stared at her with his brow furrowed in confusion. Shaun coughed a few times and then smiled up at him like nothing was wrong, silvery eyes watering from the lack of air, “Did it make… you feel powerful?” She rasped, “Because I can’t… Fight back?” He just blinked at her. “Go ahead… Do it again… You fucking coward.” Shaun bared her teeth at the man, “Why you-!?” “Inspector.” Came a voice from behind them, Leverrier perked up as a man in a long white coat with dark purple hair walked up to them. “I’ll ask that you please have my exorcists brought inside to be tended to before any sort of…” He trailed off, narrowing his gaze at the heavy foot bearing down on Shaun’s stomach. “…Investigations… On the matter take place.” With that Leverrier removed his foot and Shaun painfully gasped for air, “You’re a little late sister complex.” Kanda complained, Komui smiled warmly at the exorcist before returning his attention to Leverrier, gesturing to the open gate with one hand. He shot Komui a glare before ordering the crows to escort Kanda and Shaun inside to the infirmary, once they disappeared into the tower Leverrier spoke again, “It’s no wonder why that one went and betrayed the order… Her lack of respect has always been repulsive.” He said crinkling his nose, “Actually that exorcist is extremely respectful of her superiors, always has been…” Komui corrected, refraining from smiling “I apologize Inspector but it seems she’s never considered you one.” Spinning to face headquarters again, he began to make his way inside without another word, his coat gently waving about behind him with each step.
