Matthew’s P.O.V.
“I’m just… I’m sorry.” She runs down the stairs, leaving me there with a stupid look on my face. I never thought she liked me. I can’t believe she did that. My cheeks were flushed and I had this fuzzy feeling in my stomach after she kissed my cheek.
After I got my thoughts together and realized what happened, I yell after her, “Darsi! Wait!” I rush down the stairs looking frantically for her when Eric grabs my arm and pulls me into our room.
“Dude. What did you do!? Darsi ran by crying her eyes out,” he said. I felt even worse after hearing him say that.
“Sh-she… kissed me…,” I manage to spit out. He looks at me in complete shock.
“What? That’s awesome! Good job, man!”
“You don’t understand. She thinks I hate her now and hated the kiss.” Tears threaten to pour out after saying that. I wish I would’ve reacted differently. I run by him; Eric yelling something behind me but I couldn’t hear him. I was too busy looking for Darsi. I run to the cottage and ask her parents if they’ve seen her anywhere.
“No,” Mr. Carpenter replied. “I thought she was up in the crow’s nest.”
“She’s not up there. I’ve checked there for her.” I’m starting to get very nervous now. I hope she’s okay.
Darsi’s P.O.V.
I pass Eric as I’m running towards the cottage. Suddenly, I get a great idea. “Eric! If Matthew comes by here, and if he asks where I am, can you tell him I ran by you.”
“Um… Okay?” He says, obviously confused. Ugh boys… As I hide in his room, I hear Eric talking to Matthew for a second, then I see a figure run by the door. I knew it was Matthew by the color of his hair. I ran by Eric again and tell him thanks. “No problem,” he replies. “What was that for, anyway?”
“I’ll tell you later,” I yell back and run back up to the crow’s nest. Thank god I still have the laptop and my Faygo up here. I don’t plan on coming down till tomorrow morning. I really don’t want to see anyone else right now.
I turn on the laptop and start to catch up on some TV episodes of Doctor Who I missed. After about an hour, I slowly drift off to sleep.
