Matthew’s P.O.V.

I go back upstairs to my room after I say good bye to Darsi, finding Eric and Jered in the same place I had left them. They still had the same look of confusion on their face, so I told them part of what happened. “Relax guys. She was just having a nightmare. She’s fine now.”

“What was it about? She finally saw how much of an attention seeker and how talentless she really was?” He and Jered both started laughing. I can’t believe them sometimes.

“You guys are horrible!” I yell as I slam them both up against the wall. I really hope that Darsi can’t hear us right now. “Have you even heard her sing? She is an amazing, kind, sweet, talented person that doesn’t deserve the crap you give her! She’s a beautiful girl that deserves the best life can offer to her, not the life she has now. You don’t know her like I do (A/N: I know it’s a quote from a song, I just can’t think of which one)! Don’t you ever say another negative thing about her again! Understand?!” They both nod, frightened that I was going to hurt them.

I let them down and go into the hallway to see Darsi, terrified. “Why did you do that?”

I had no idea what she was talking about. “What? I didn’t do anything.”

“You shoved Eric and Jered up against the wall and started screaming at them…” She sounds like she’s about to cry.

“I did?” Oh great. Another blind red head rage. She nods her head slowly and runs by me, back up to the crow’s nest. Great! I blew it!

Darsi’s P.O.V.

I run past him, up to the crow’s nest, but I know he’s following me up. I reach the top of the stairs and run to the corner farthest away from the stairway. He comes running up behind me with a sorrowful look in his eye. “Please. Don’t touch me,” I manage to say without crying.

“Darsi. I’m sorry, but they were making fun of you again, and I just couldn’t take it anymore. It was a blind red head rage. It happens.” Oh gosh.

“What if you go through one on me?” I thought of the day that would happen, tears threatening to spill over.

“It won’t ever happen to you. I promise. Never. I’m sorry,” he says, and I knew he meant it. I go up to him and wrap my arms around him, never wanting to let go. I look up and kiss him on the cheek. “I’ll protect you,” he cooed in my ear as I lay my head on his chest. “Forever.”
