The next week was a living nightmare. It seems that by classifying Levi as a friend I have now begun to notice all the things a girl might like about him.
The way he laughs, smiles, leans back in his chair when he's bored, and even how he chews his pen's cap when he's thinking. However, it also means I am suddenly painfully aware of all the girls that seem to like him. Especially Amanda.
She was always nearby no matter what. We were in the halls? She would be a group or two over and would come over talk to Oliver or Levi. If I was lucky to mock me or tell the boys of something stupid I did. Lucky me.
At the moment we were all at lunch, enjoying our meal when she all but skips up to us.
I let out an audible groan and Abby pats my back.
"Hey Tay, has your brother talked about me lately? I've got to say I really enjoyed our time together last week," she says throwing her hair over her shoulder.
"Oh, so you are the annoying imp he's been complaining about? He keeps saying she keeps throwing herself at him and he's getting real tired of her annoying voice." I say back sweetly and take a bite of whatever kind of burger was served today.
"Haha you're so funny Hunter," she says with the fakes smile and I give one back. "Anyways I'm here to talk to Levi. I heard a rumor that teachers are beginning to chart out the sleeping arrangements for the winter trip. Want to be my roommate? I think we could have some fun that week."
"Why would Levi want to spend a week having to look at you?" Scar asks her, making a disgusted face.
"Amanda if you are going to be begging guys to sleep with you please do it away from my food," Abby says pushing her tray away.
"Yeah, we wouldn't want you to learn to just go for what you want," Amanda says, raising her perfectly filled in eyebrow between Abby and me.
"Begging isn't cute hun" I mutter begging some celestial being to speed up time so Amanda would leave already.
"Thanks for coming over Amanda but I don't control where we sleep. Though I'm sure we can work something out." Levi says with a wink. Amanda smiles and gives us a smug look.
"Now if you excuse me I'm going to go bleach my ears," Oliver says, making a big deal of pretending to gag and slit his throat.
I laugh but inside I feel sick. I have no idea what winter trip they are talking about but I definitely don't want the mental image of Levi sneaking into Amanda's room in the middle of the night to do god knows what. Well, I'm sure the what in question is very clear but I don't want to think about it.
"Got enough for another pair?" Abby asks as she takes a swing of her fruit punch like it was a shot of whiskey.
"Listening in on others' conversations is rude, you know," Levi says.
"Dang, you caught me. I care so much what you do that I traveled all day and all night to eavesdrop on your conversations." I say dramatically and roll my eyes. I hope my sour mood isn't visible to the table.
But of course, there was no reason to be sour, what my friend does on his own time is his own business. I need some air.
"Anyways I'm going to my locker, see you guys in class,'' I announce, not looking back. If I'm alone, maybe I'll be able to get a better grip on myself.
