For some reason, I was nervous when I woke up. Today we are going to the mall with Levi and Oliver. I was just out of the shower when the house phone rings. I don't pay attention to it while I get dressed when I hear Matt call my name outside my door.

"Hello, Taylor speaking," I answer trying to keep my towel on my head and hold the phone

"Hey it's Aby, I'll be picking you up in about twenty minutes. I gotta stop for gas and then pick up Scar is that okay?"

"Yeah of course do what you got to do. I just got out of the shower so don't worry about it."

"Thank you Taylor!" she says before hanging up. Not one for goodbyes I guess.

I dry my hair and straighten it. As I sit on my bed I wonder if I should wear makeup. I don't wear it at school but I don't want the boys to think I'm doing this for them.

Screw that, I'm putting on mascara because I like how it makes my eyes look, not for them.

I apply it quickly and grab my chapstick. I love chapstick. I apply it far too often and my lips are still always chapped.

I look at myself in the mirror and I look good. However, I know Aaron is going to have a word or two about me wearing these shorts. Oh well, it's not like he'll make me change. I grab a shirt I stole from Matt one day that reaches just below my shorts.

"Okay, breathe, act cool," I tell myself to try and hide how excited I am. My first outing with friends! "Eek"

Mia knocks and comes in, shutting the door behind her.

"Is that Matt's shirt?" she asks with a chuckle before sitting on my bed. I join her before nodding.

"It's soft! Besides, I doubt he even noticed I have it."

"And if he had, he wouldn't say anything. He might not say it but he's happy you trust him and feel safe. Do you remember when you first came to live with us?"

"Of course!"

"You were so tiny and shy." Mia chuckles and shakes her head.

"In my defense, you were constantly trying to do my hair." I laugh. No one had done my hair before except for Aaron and even then it was a sad ponytail that was falling off all the time. I had to teach myself to do my own hair very young.

"Aaron had tried to do your hair into two braids with ribbons to celebrate the special occasion."

"And they were all tangled and painful to take out." I laugh thinking of how Mia had to help me wash my hair when the night came to a close.

"You wouldn't leave their side. I remember when they had to leave the room you would close up even more. The first time you actually spoke was to Matt. He had bought you a teddy bear and gave it to you."

"Mr. Bowie"

"Yes, Mr. Bowie and his bowtie." Mia turns to look at me, "now look at you going out with your first group of friends, stepping out of your comfort zone. You went from the shy little girl that could be bribed to talk with a stuffed bear to a senior in high school. Boys falling at her feet."

"Oh stop it, there is no secret admirer Mia you know that," I say with a laugh.

"Yes there is and you know it!"

Before Mia can go on about the 'secret admirer' I hear Elijah call my name downstairs.

"Whoop gotta go." I chirped before giving her a quick hug and running down.
