I sit at the table with the math book and a notebook in front of me.

"Having fun?" Elijah asks with a smile as he sits on the counter in the kitchen and bites into an apple.

"Yes. I love having to solve problems made up of the number system and alphabet's hybrid child that was given to humans by the devil himself." I tell him putting my pen down and placing my face into my hands.

"What?" Elijah asks, looking confused.

"Math Eli. Good old math." I tell him as I stand and grab a bowl and the cereal.

"It's four in the afternoon." He nods his head to my bowl of cereal.

"Have you met me?" Ask him as I eat the dry Cheerios.

"Touché" he smiles and walks past the table and glances at my book. "Oh, and number seventeen is x squared times five to the power of three."

I walk over and look at it.

"That was an easy one try solving number twenty-six," I say. The moment I opened the book I knew that this one would take me a while to solve.

"No way I'm not falling for that trick again." Darn it.

"Fine. Be that way." I throw a few Cheerios at him.

"When my mom gets home she is going to throw a fit if she finds food on the floor," Mia says as she pulls a chair next to me.

"I'll clean it up before she comes home." I shrug as I turn to look at her.

"Okay don't forget." She says as she looks at my sweater. Well, technically not mine.

"So, I heard that you had an incident at school today?" Mia asks me.

Mia has been trying to be a big sister to me for a while now. It's pretty cool when you need help with an outfit or when you're feeling down she takes me out to the mall or to get In-n-Out. It's not cool when she finds out that something happened to me. Sometimes she can be worse than my brothers. Combined.

"Uh yeah. Some girls, well it was actually just one, uh kinda ruined my food. It wasn't much." I shrug as I grab a couple of pieces of cereal.

"So that's why a guy lent you his sweater?" She asks, hiding a smile.

"Uh well she kinda dumped the food on me I had to clean off." I don't look at her. I know what's coming next.

"That little son of a bit-"

"I hope that's not coming from my daughter's mouth under my roof!" a voice says from the door that leads to the garage.

Mia shuts her mouth and I get down to grab the Cheerios I threw earlier.

I sit down and put the Cheerios near my bowl.

"So what was that I was hearing earlier?" My mom.

"Uh, nothing mom," Mia says getting up. My mom turns to look at me and Mia, who is standing behind her puts up five fingers and walks away.

"How was school?" She asks, grabbing one of the Cheerios I had dropped.

I grab the rest and throw them away. My mom looks confused but keeps taking my Cheerios. She's lucky I love her or I would never share my food.

"It was fine." I shrug, grab a glass, and pour some mango juice. Don't judge it's almost as good as pineapple juice.

"Is that why you're wearing a completely different outfit?" She walks over to me and smells my hair. "And took a shower somewhere else?"

Shoot.

"Uh there was a food incident and I got hit. I took a shower at school and a couple of friends lent me some clothes." I shrug it off and wash my cup.

"Do Aaron and Elijah know your friend was a guy?" She says as she begins to take things out of the fridge for dinner.

I nearly dropped my cup.

"Uh no but a friend of a friend lent it to me. I don't even know who's this is." I reply. It's been three minutes. I need to meet up with Mia. "I'm going to go ask Elijah for help on my homework."

I tried to get out as fast as I could without looking suspicious.

I knock on Mia's door and walk-in.

"Shut the door." She says sitting up and patting her bed.

I do as she said and sit down. This is going to be interesting.

"Details. Now" she orders as soon as I'm settled.

I told her everything that happened that day.

"Okay. So you are now and correct me if I'm wrong, you are a "baby girl", have an enemy, ticked off Aaron, made friends, and have a secret admirer?"

"I am not anyone's baby girl Mia. He just called me that. That doesn't make it true. And secondly, no one likes me. Someone was just kind enough to lend me his sweater."

Wait for it.

"Come one we need to pick out your clothes for tomorrow and I need to figure out how to do your makeup. That way when you give him back his sweater he might ask you out. Oh my gosh, my little sister has someone crushing on her!" Mia grabs my arm and drags me to my room.

And there it is. I know my sister far too well.
