ARCHANES, CRETE
The death of Calliope took a hard toll on Adonis Pirenne and his daughter Alexandria, they were both stuck in their grief for a long time, a time which had Demetri working day and night to keep his new family above water, he considered himself lucky though.
As a soldier he was decently payed, even when he wasn't sent out to war, so he had the resources to take care of his two mourning family members. He also had a wife now whom he loved with his whole heart, he would jump off the edge of the earth for her, and she for him, and so not only did he comfort her, he comforted him too seeing as he too lost someone who for the past couple of months had evolved to be somewhat of a mothering figure in the young mans life.
Years went by and the couple consisting of Demetri and Alexandria couldn't be happier, they fell more in love with each other every day that passed, and Demetris economical stability allowed Alexandrias father, Adonis, to work slightly less, so that he wouldn't one day work himself into an early grave. This made Alexandria even happier, she was living in a constant bubble of happiness, little did se know her entire world was about to explode.
A war was looming, the Bulgarians were growing stronger still, and it wouldn't be long before Demetri would be have to join in on defending his country, he had been called upon for minor battles along the coast against the Arabs a bunch of times during the last couple of years, but had thankfully made it out in one piece all times, due to his incredible skill when it came to fighting, he had also helped locate a few Arabian warriors that had gone on the run during and after the battles, and brought them to justice for their crimes against Greece.
But it was not a minor battle that was coming, no far from it, this was a full on war, and it would no doubt bring years worth of loss and tragedy.

THE MAIN-STREET
The small town was in a state of horror as all the healthy men in the area were gathered, women and children were crying while the men themselves tried to hold their head high despite the fear in their hearts, they were headed on to the ships to go to mainland where the Bulgarians were causing havoc: destroying cities, raping and killing, or so the story went anyways.
Alexandria was amongst the crying women, she was sending off not only her utmost loved husband, but also her frail father why had volunteered to help defend his country, and there by his daughter. Adonis always said: "one man with enough will power, can make all the difference in the world," but he was not only going for his daughter, he was going for his son-in-law whom he had come to consider his own over the past few years, he was going to help defend Demetri should need be, because he saw how much it destroyed his daughter when they lost Calliope, and he saw how Demetri made Alexandrias day brighter even during the darkest of days, he knew no matter what he did his days were numbered, and when it was his time to face the lord, he wanted to do so knowing that Demetri was by his daughters side, to make sure she would never be alone.
A horn broke through the sound of chattering and sobbing in the crowd, Alexandria turned to Demetri with tears in her eyes "this is it my love, I must go" he told her with a sad smile, Alexandria sniffled and looked up into her husbands eyes, she could not let him go, she was scared too scared to do so "Demetri-" "I will be just fine my love. I promise" he cut her off, placing his hands on her cheeks and wiping away her tears, "promise?" she sniffled, "yes my love" she gave him a small smile and nodded, before kissing him goodbye.
Alexandria then turned to her father and brought the old man in for a hug "take care of yourself papa" she told him tears returning to her eyes, "I will" he answered and so the two most important people in her life turned and walked away from her to go off to fight a dangerous war on the mainland, defending their home, and there by shared favorite person in the world, Alexandria.

DEMETRI AND ALEXANDRIAS HOUSEHOLD
It had been a month since Alexandrias father and husband were shipped off to war, Alexandria had tried not to think too much about the horrors they were facing, and opted for keeping herself busy helping the more frail and weak people left behind with no one to care for them, she felt guilty about doing it for selfish reasons, but her help was far more appreciated than she could imagine, seeing as many of these people would not make it without someone to support them, especially not with winter right around the corner.
It was an early morning, the wind was freezing cold, and Alexandria was busy lighting a fire to keep herself warm in the cold, when the front door opened, she turned away from the fire to see her father standing there bloody and bruised, she rushed to him and gave him a gentle hug, before helping him sit down on a chair near where the fire would be so that he could keep warm.
But just as he was sitting down it hit her: Where was Demetri?
