A/N: i know i know.... the title.....

"Y/n!" Lavender cried, bursting into my room after classes had resided that day.

"Hi!" I answered, matching her enthusiasm while I also felt a pang of guilt in my stomach. I was starting to get used to the feeling anytime I saw her.

"I am so sorry!" she exclaimed, placing her hands over her heart dramatically and arching both her eyebrows with a pitiful smile.

Confused beyond belief, I laughed. "For what?"

"For being so self-centered these last couple weeks!" she huffed, setting her things down next to me and taking a seat on my bed. "We've barely had time to talk about you!"

Instantly worried what topics, "talking about me" could possibly stir up, I tried to steer the conversation away from where she was directing it. "No, really, I haven't been up to much lately—"

She didn't let me finish. "I mean, you haven't even kissed anyone, let alone had boy problems like me. And here I am, only talking about my problems with Ron, and not even thinking about helping you!"

"Lavender, it's alright," I sighed, rubbing my eyes as the guilt began building up. "Really."

"I have to set you up," she stated, shaking her head back and forth slowly. "We'll find someone for you. There's someone out there. I know it."

"I don't want to be set up," I huffed shortly, unsure of another way to stop her plotting. "I'm fine."

"Y/n," she said with a sympathetic smile, turning to look at me while she grabbed both of my hands in a comforting manner. "I love you, but we both know you need some action. Your sex life is drier than the Sahara dessert."

"Lavender!" I exclaimed, my jaw dropped from being both shocked and a little offended. "I don't need your help."

I don't need her help because her previous statement is now just a lie.

"Clearly, you do," she continued. "You have eighteen years of nothing without my help."

Another lie.

"I'm perfectly fine being single," I shrugged, scratching the back of my head while I hoped I was turning out to be a better liar than before.

"Come on," she huffed, grabbing my arm and pulling me off my bed and towards the door. "Let's go to the common room to scope out our options."

I knew that Lavender wouldn't back down, so I followed behind her until we found ourselves in the common room, along with many other Gryffindor students.

And, of course, along with Ron.

He shot me a look as soon as I stepped in with Lavender, keeping his head down but lifting his eyes. My gaze met his for a split second before Lavender began speaking again and I turned my attention to her.

"So," she began, clapping her hands together as her eyes scanned the room. "Who can we set you up with?"

Ron must've heard the topic of conversation and stood up immediately, staring at us from across the room with an intense look in his eyes.

Lavender of course noticed this and made a disgusted face in response.

"Oh my god, imagine if I set you up with Ron," she laughed, lowering her voice and leaning in towards me. "How awful of a friend would I have to be to do that?"

The irony was unbearable. I can't stand lying when the truth is right under her nose.

"Ha ha," I laughed under my breath, my stomach churning as I realized exactly what I had to do. I just couldn't do it here. Not in front of everyone.
